  • Patent number: 10264984
Abstract: A cardiovascular monitoring system includes a sensor assembly and a controller. The sensor assembly includes a membrane enclosing a viscous fluid, a substrate immersed in the viscous fluid, and at least one strain gauge mounted with the substrate. The strain gauge is configured to detect bending of the substrate due to changes in capillary blood pressure of a person in contact with the membrane at less than 50 mmHg contact pressure and to output a signal indicative of the changes. The controller may be configured to output a change in mean arterial pressure of the person based on a profile of the signal that is associated with a heartbeat of the person. Also, the controller may be configured to output the mean arterial pressure based on a weight signal indicative of a weight of the person and the profile of the signal associated with the heartbeat.

  • Patent number: 7789797
Abstract: The present disclosure improves both the D-N and N-D garage shift by reducing torque applied to the powertrain mount system and vehicle suspension systems during garage shifts. Since less energy in stored in the mount system and suspension system, the reaction bump during garage shifts will be reduced without compromising vehicle performance. For the N-D garage shift, such as after key-on when a shift lever is positioned in drive, a vehicle shifts to second gear (or some other higher gear) which provides reduced torque applied to the powertrain mount system and vehicle suspension system. For the D-N garage shift, as a vehicle slows down to a zero speed with the brake on, the vehicle is shifted into a higher gear. As the vehicle starts to launch, the vehicle is immediately shifted back to first gear, launching the vehicle with its first gear ratio.

  • Patent number: 5267566
Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring blood pressure by a transducer engaging a flexible part of a body near capillaries and remote from an artery. The transducer provides an electrical signal when actuated by blood pressure pulses or changes in the capillaries. The transducer is releasably secured to the body by a gripping means preferably in the form of a clothespin. The transducer includes a strip with two strain gages disposed one on each respective side of the strip such that the blood pressure pulses flex the strip causing a change in the electrical resistance of the gages. Preferably, the apparatus has electronic circuitry to convert the change in the resistance of the strain gages to a voltage signal indicative of blood pressure and devices for recording and displaying blood pressure.
