Abstract: The invention relates to a drill guide instrument and method for guiding a drill tool (24) when drilling a longitudinal bore (4) through the neck (collum femoris) (5) of a human femur (9), subsequent to resection of the head (caput) (8) of the collum (5) along a cutting plane (P). The instrument comprises a drill guide (20), which is provided with a base member (21) and arranged to guide the drill tool (24) along a drill axis (B--B) relative to the base member (21), said base member (21) being intended to be applied against a cut end surface (11) of the collum (5) defining the cutting plane (P) for obtaining a predetermined orientation of the drill axis (B--B) relative to the cutting plane (P).

Abstract: A hip joint prosthesis to be permanently anchored in a patient's hip is disclosed. The prosthesis comprises an attachment part for a ball unit designed to be anchored in the neck of a human femur. The attachment part comprises a primary fixture which may be an elongate anchoring element which is intended to be inserted into a channel extending through the femoral collum. The prosthesis also includes a secondary fixture for carrying a ball intended to be attached to the collum after removal of the head of the collum. The primary fixture and the secondary fixture are connected to each other. The prosthesis is preferably designed so that the length of the primary fixture terminates close to the head of the collum. The secondary fixture preferably comprises a plug-like part which is intended to be inserted in a cylindrical countersunk recess that is cut into the cancellous bone of the collum and which extends to the cortical bone in at least three locations.

Abstract: The invention relates to a hip joint prosthesis comprising an attachment part for a ball unit (18) being designed to be anchored in the neck of a human femur (collum femoris), said attachment part, which is intended to be inserted into a channel (5, 14) extending through the femoral collum, being provided with parts for carrying a ball or caput (18) intended to be attached to the collum after removal of the head of the collum. The attachment part also comprises a fixture part comprising two main parts, a first part (1) which is to extend through a bore-hole (5) from the collum femoris towards the outer side of the femur and a second part (2) intended to fit into a cylindrical cavity cut into the cancellous bone of the collum.

Abstract: The invention relates to a cup-shaped member for a hip joint prosthesis, for implantation into a cavity in the bone tissue in the acetabulum, comprising an acetabular cup (1) made of metal a ceramic material or any other suitable material, preferably of titanium, the outside of said cup being rotationally symmetrical around a central axis of symmetry. The outer side of the cup (1), that is the side which is to face the bone tissue, is provided with at least one circumferential bead (5) close to the edge of the cup (1), said bead (5) having a barb-like shape in section and consequently allowing the cup (1) to be pushed into said cavity but counter-acting the removal of said cup (1) from said cavity, said outer side including said bead(s) (5) being provided with a rough structure serving as a file when said cup (1) is moved or rotated in said cavity.
