Patent number: 7571382Abstract: In a method and a system for retrieving images in a client-server system, images are stored as a set of independently decodable units (CU's) on the server. A client issues a series of requests for image information. Each request contain a request number, information on what image information the client wants to see next and information on what image information the client had received at the time when the request was issued. The server does not have to store any state information (e.g. previous requests). On receiving a request, the server sends a restart marker, a confirmation of the request number and incremental image information corresponding to the request. The use of the method and the system as described herein will result in that no decoding of the whole bit stream will be required in the server. This will save a lot of time at the sender side (server side), since it not needs to a full decoding of the stream.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1999Date of Patent: August 4, 2009Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM EricssonInventors: Mathias Larsson, Charilaos Christopoulos, Magnus Jändel, Diego Santa Cruz, Touradj Ebrahmi

Patent number: 6931534Abstract: In a method and a device for partial encryption and progressive transmission of images, a first section of the image file is compressed at reduced quality without decryption, and a second section of the image file is encrypted. Users having access to appropriate decryption keywords can decrypt this second section. The first section together with the decrypted second section can then be viewed as a full quality image. The storage space required for storing the first and section together is essentially the same as the storage space required for storing the unencrypted full quality image. By using the method and device as described herein storage and bandwidth requirements for partially encrypted images is reduced. Furthermore, object based composition and processing of encrypted objects are facilitated, and ROIs can be encrypted. Also, the shape of a ROI can be encrypted and the original object can be decrypted and restored in the compressed domain.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1999Date of Patent: August 16, 2005Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Erricsson (publ)Inventors: Magnus Jändel, Mathias Larsson

Patent number: 6763371Abstract: The real-time performance in communications networks is improved, especially between a large number of participants, by a server unit having a device for receiving information from at least a client unit, the information including at least part of the state information about a distributed interactive application. The server unit includes a device for storing application state information received from at least one client unit, and a device for forwarding the state information received from the client to at least one other node in the network and for transmitting at least part of the information stored in the state information storing device to the at least one client. In this way, the whole state of the application can be kept in one or more units in the network, which removes the need for each client to store the entire state, thereby reducing memory and bandwidth requirements for each client.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1999Date of Patent: July 13, 2004Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (publ)Inventor: Magnus Jändel

Publication number: 20040059711Abstract: A configuration arrangement, data processing system and a computer program product for flexible communication infrastructure for a multi-user application to be provided to a programmable application network. Each user is a client comprising a client computer and is able to participate in the application as a session participant. Human supervising commanding operator after installation of the configuration elements should be essentially avoided. At least one session profile comprises a set of application network parameters valid for an application session (APS). The session profile initializes and prepares the programmable application network in connection with or before the start of the application session. Each of a number of client profiles comprises a set of application network parameters valid for the client participating in an application session.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 10, 2003Publication date: March 25, 2004Inventors: Magnus Jandel, Jonas Jonsson

Publication number: 20040030787Abstract: This invention relates to a communication infrastructure arrangement in and a computer readable program product for a data processing system for multi-user applications, i.e. applications for multiple clients, enabling simultaneous communication across an application communication network (1) between several clients joined in at least one client group (CG). At least one distributed multi-user application is provided on the application communication network (1). Each multi-user application has nodes (AC, ASNS, ACG, AR, AS, APDB, ALS, ANMS, CAS, CGH) and databases (11, DB1, APDB) for handling each client group (CG). A set of attributes (7, 8, CGDB) for each client group (CG) determines the function and usage of the client group. At least one session (13) is provided, in which the attributes are listed. The selection of attributes is made to fit the intended function of the client group (CG) and the capabilities of the application communication network (1).Type: ApplicationFiled: April 28, 2003Publication date: February 12, 2004Inventors: Magnus Jandel, Martin Stenhoff, Roland Karlsson

Publication number: 20040023723Abstract: The present invention relates to a server unit for a multi-user application distributed in a communications network. The server unit comprises at least one storing means for storing application names used only in an application session for an application item during the application session and for storing tag values adapted for application data units for sending application data in the communications network, and mapping means for mapping at least one of the application names to at least one of the tag values. The present invention also relates to a system in the communication network including the server unit, a method for the server unit and a computer program for the server unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 23, 2003Publication date: February 5, 2004Inventors: Magnus Jandel, Roland Karlsson

Patent number: 6226413Abstract: In transmission of bit plane coded (23) digitalized moving pictures, which are subject to a motion compensation (19) and an object based segmentation the bit planes are transmitted in order of decreasing significance. An incremental motion estimation (15, 17) and segmentation (11, 13) is performed in the transmitter (1) and the receiver (5) after each transmitted bit plane of a frame of the moving picture. As a result hereof the information, in particular the segmentation information, which must be transmitted is, in particular in the case of a low transmission rate, significantly reduced, due to the heavy reduction of motion parameters which must be transmitted. This method is, in particular, well suited for employment in low rate transmission systems, such as the public telephone network.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1998Date of Patent: May 1, 2001Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM EricssonInventor: Magnus Jändel

Patent number: 6122322Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and to a system for detecting a first context change between two frames. When a second context change between a further two frames occurs within a predetermined time interval, the frames accommodated within the two context changes are defined as a subliminal message. An alarm is sent to an observer upon detection of a subliminal message.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1999Date of Patent: September 19, 2000Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM EricssonInventor: Magnus Jandel
