    Abstract: A spacer device for roller elements of a toroidal roller bearing includes an inner ring with an inner ring raceway and an outer ring with an outer ring raceway. The toroidal roller bearing allows for axial and angular displacement between the inner ring and the outer ring. The spacer device comprises at least one centering element that is arranged to extend in between adjacent roller elements in a longitudinal direction of the roller elements when the spacer device is in use.     Abstract: A roller bearing includes an inner raceway member having an inner raceway surface and an outer raceway member having an outer raceway surface. The inner and outer raceway surfaces are spaced apart from one another to define an annular space and a plurality of rolling elements are disposed in the annular space for engaging the inner and outer raceway surfaces as the rolling elements roll in a rolling direction. During operation of the roller bearing, friction forces arise at regions of the inner and outer raceway surfaces that give rise to positive skew moments. Those regions of the raceway surfaces are designed to have greater frictional characteristics than those regions of the inner and outer raceway surfaces where negative skew moment producing friction forces arise. In that way, the skew of the roller can be controlled to be not excessively negative.

    Abstract: A sealing device for a slot between two elements, which are rotatable relative to each other, e.g. an outer and an inner race ring in a rolling bearing, incorporates a flexible sealing portion having a lip, which contacts a sealing surface surrounding the lip. The sealing portion is rotatable, and the centrifugal force acts upon it thus that it tends to leave the surface at increasing rotational speed. In order positively to avoid that the lip is urged so hard against the surface at high rotational speeds, that an unallowable temperature increase occurs, the sealing portion and the surface have profiles of such shape, that the lip is displaced in a direction which has a component directed radially outwards relative to the rotational axis, when the sealing portion with the lip is bent by the centrifugal force.

    Abstract: A tapered roller bearing comprising inner and outer members and a plurality of frusto-conical rolling elements interposed between the members has means for controlling the skew angle of the rolling elements during operation of the bearing to lower overall friction in the bearing and to increase its service life. The profiles of the rolling elements and raceways are designed for skewing the rolling elements at a predetermined angle to cause the rolling elements to slide relative to the raceways during operation of the bearing. Optimum bearing performance is obtained when the element in the load zone is disposed at a positive skew angle which, by definition, occurs when the rotational axis of the rolling element and the bearing axis are not coplanar and the axial component of an external load applied to a bearing raceway tends to be counteracted by an oppositely directed axial component of a friction force applied to that raceway by the rolling element.

    Abstract: A bearing comprising inner and outer members such as rings having inner and outer raceways spaced apart to define an annular space therebetween and a plurality of rolling elements in the annular space. A cage circumferentially spaces the rolling elements. Skew control means associated with the cage operates during operation of the bearing for a predetermined relative movement of the rings and rollers, to cause at least the rollers in the load zone to assume a nonnegative skew angle within a predetermined angular range. The rollers have a skew angle when the roller axis and the axis of the bearing are not coplanar. The skew angle is defined as being positive when the friction force components in the axial direction arising between the rollers and raceways and acting on a raceway are so directed that they counteract the axial load component of the external load acting on said raceway.
