Patent number: 7636434Abstract: When replacing an old exchange with a new one, one or more of a small unit (board or magazine) of the old exchange is removed at a time, and replaced by new equipment controlled through a different communications channel than the old equipment. This enables reuse of the existing MDF as well as the cabling from the MDF to the old exchange, which saves cost and also eliminates the need for a lot of changes to cabling documentation and support systems for handling cabling information. When upgrading as described, the new line boards can be designed to provide both voice and DSL services, or else can be made smaller or with higher capacity, so that extra space is freed up for placement of DSL equipment. The new equipment is installed in the same place as the old line board, or at least close enough to the corresponding cabling so that existing line connectors can be used.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2004Date of Patent: December 22, 2009Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventors: Magnus Lindgren, Stephen Doe, Peter Johnson

Patent number: 6620014Abstract: In a cellular communication network, radio planning information is provided in a first control node that controls a plurality of first fixed-site radio transceivers which define a plurality of first cells in the cellular communication network. Without network operator support, the radio planning information is communicated from the first control node to a second control node that controls a plurality of second fixed-site radio transceivers which define in the cellular communication network a plurality of second cells including at least one second cell that is located adjacent to at least one of the first cells.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1998Date of Patent: September 16, 2003Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson(publ)Inventor: Magnus Lindgren

Patent number: 6556821Abstract: The present invention regards method and apparatus relating to wireless office system. The present invention addresses the problem of enabling it to be determined in the wireless office system (5) when voice mail messages for users of mobile stations having subscriptions in the wireless office system (5) are received at the voice mail system (15), the voice mail system (15) being associated with but not included in the wireless office system (5). The duration(s) of greeting message(s) associated with the voice mail system (15) and the or each mobile station having an associated voice mailbox (16b1-16bM) in the voice mail system (15) is/are measured. The connection times to the voice mail system (15) are measured when calls for the mobile stations are forwarded to the voice mail system (15) from the wireless office system (5). By comparing the duration(s) of the greeting message(s) with the measured connection times, it is determined whether voice mail messages have been received.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 2000Date of Patent: April 29, 2003Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Magnus Lindgren, John Skördeman

Patent number: 6411632Abstract: A network hub interconnects a public access cellular telephone network transceiving signals according to a SS7 protocol with a wireless office environment transceiving signals according to a TCP/fP protocol. The wireless office environment comprises a TCP/IP network interconnecting a plurality of private wireless networks. A processor within the hub converts received signals between being carried by the SS7 and TCP/IP protocols. The conversions are assisted by a translation table including active mobile identification numbers and IP addresses within the wireless office environment and a second table listing all signal point codes for nodes within the public access cellular telephone network.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 1997Date of Patent: June 25, 2002Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Magnus Lindgren, Claes Wikström

Patent number: 6253074Abstract: A telecommunication system is architecturally sub-divided into the concepts of user, subscription and terminal. A database within a cellular radio telecommunication system is provided with separate and independent storage registers for storing information relating to each of user, subscription and terminal. An user register is provided for user information, a terminal register is provided for terminal information and a subscription register is provided for subscription information. The use of three separate registers within the system allow several terminals to be associated with one user, several users to be associated with one terminal, several subscriptions to be associated with one user, and several users to be selectively associated with one subscription.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 1996Date of Patent: June 26, 2001Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L/M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Karl Ove Roger Carlsson, John Christer Axelsson, Inger Marianne Andersson, Magnus Lindgren, Sve Gunnar Ivar Thrysin
