    Abstract: The Component Interface Definition Language (CIDL) disclosed in this document, along with the associated CIDL compiler, provides advantageous automation and simplification of the process of interconnecting components within modeled systems. In particular, the CIDL compiler automatically determines the correct connections to be made between the components represented within a CIDL source file. These automatic connection capabilities relieve the user from the burden of having to explicate the signal port connections to be made between various ones of the component interfaces represented in the CIDL source code.
