  • Publication number: 20240050279
Abstract: A hearing protection assessment module for a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) device. The module includes an ambient sound receiver that receives an indication of an ambient sound. The module also includes an experienced sound receiver that receives an indication of an experienced sound, wherein the experienced sound is a sound experienced by a user while wearing the PPE in the environment with the ambient sound. The module also includes a Field Attenuation Rating (FAR) calculator that, based on the ambient and attenuated sound indications, calculates a personal attenuation rating for the PPE device.

  • Publication number: 20240041147
Abstract: Hearing protection device (10, 10?, 10?) with an indication unit (40a, 40b) and a detection unit (30, 30?, 30?) to send a first detection signal, to assign a distance value based on a second detection signal of an external device (50, 50) representing the physical distance to the external device (50, 50) and to control the indication unit (40a, 40b) to provide an indication to the user (100) if the assigned distance value is at or below a predetermined threshold distance value. Thus, a collision may easily and reliably be prevented by providing an indication to the user (100), so that the risk of missing relevant sound of a moving person or object is overcome. A collision warning system comprising such a hearing protection device (10, 10?, 10?) and an external device is also provided. Furthermore, a method of retrofitting a hearing protection device (10??) with such a detection unit (30, 30?, 30?) is provided.

  • Publication number: 20220223061
Abstract: The invention relates to a system comprising a hearing protection device (13) configured to be worn by a user (10); one or more audio output devices (26) configured to generate one or more audio signals, a computing device (60) comprising a memory and one or more computer processors, wherein the memory comprises instructions that when executed by the one or more computer processors cause the one or more computer processor to: —select a training configuration (25) that defines a set of audio events (74A) that correspond to a set of user reactions (74B), —send a set of control signals to the one or more audio output device (26) that cause the one or more audio output devices (26) to simulate the set of audio events (74A), —receive reaction data (74C) that indicates whether the user (10) provided the set of user reactions (74B) to the set of audio events (74A); and —perform at least one operation based at least in part on whether the user (10) provided the set of user reactions (74B) to the set of audio events (

  • Publication number: 20220215496
Abstract: A system includes an article of personal protective equipment (PPE) associated with a first worker and at least one computing device. The article of PPE includes a display device. The at least one computing device configured to receive an indication of audio data from a second worker, the audio data including a message. The at least one computing device is also configured to determine a risk level for the first worker and determine whether to display a visual representation of the message. The at least one computing device is further configured to output the visual representation of the message for display by the display device.
