  • Publication number: 20220286924
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing a network-instructed handover of a wireless device from a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) to a Radio Access Network (RAN) of another Radio Access Technology (RAT), e.g., a 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) or 3rd Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2) RAT. In one embodiment, a WLAN access node determines that a handover of a wireless device from the WLAN to another RAN of a different RAT is to be performed and transmits a handover instruction to the wireless device that instructs the wireless device to perform a handover from the WLAN to a RAN of a different RAT. In this manner, the WLAN access node is able to steer the wireless device from the WLAN to a RAN of a different RAT.

  • Patent number: 11432337
Abstract: A base station (110) transmits system information that indicates to a wireless device (120) that the wireless device (120) is permitted to transmit respective blocks stored at the wireless device (120) during and after a random access procedure (200). The wireless device (120) performs the random access procedure (200) to the base station (110). The wireless device (120) transmits a first block of data stored at the wireless device (120) to the base station (110) during the random access procedure (200) while withholding a second block of data stored at the wireless device (120) from transmission to the base station (110) until after completion of the random access procedure (200). The base station (110), receives the blocks of data during and after the random access procedure (200), respectively.

  • Publication number: 20220264518
Abstract: A wireless device performs a method for resuming a Radio Resource Control, RRC, connection. While in a power saving state, the wireless device monitors a paging 5channel. When the wireless device receives a paging message on the paging channel, it determines whether the paging channel includes a message enabling the wireless device to resume the RRC connection. If the paging channel includes a message enabling the wireless device to resume the RRC connection, the wireless device performs actions determined by said message.

  • Publication number: 20220256606
Abstract: A wireless device receives a downlink message from a network node. The wireless device descrambles or decrypts the downlink message, or one or more fields of the downlink message, to obtain one or more parameters. The wireless device uses the one or more parameters to perform at least one action from any one or more of the following actions: receiving a mobile-terminated, MT, early data transmission, EDT, during a random access procedure; positively or negatively acknowledging the MT-EDT; and receiving a re-transmission of the MT-EDT.

  • Patent number: 11412376
Abstract: The proposed technology generally relates to interworking and integration of different radio access networks, and more specifically to carrier aggregation between different radio access networks such as a cellular radio access network, e.g. a 3GPP network, on one hand and a WLAN network such as Wi-Fi, on the other hand. Such tight interworking/aggregation of radio access networks puts new requirements on efficient handling of authentication and security aspects. The proposed technology provides methods, and corresponding network nodes, computer programs, carriers comprising such computer programs, and computer program products as well as arrangements to support carrier aggregation between different radio access networks.

  • Patent number: 11399322
Abstract: Methods, User Equipment, UE, (120) and source network node (111) for resuming a Radio Resource Control, RRC, connection to a target cell in a wireless communications network (100). The UE generates a security token using a set of input parameters, and sends a resuming request with the security token to a target network node (112) serving the target cell. When receiving the resuming request, the source network node generates a security token using a set of input parameters in the same manner as the UE. If the received security token is successfully verified when compared with the generated security token, the source network node provides to the target network node a UE context of the UE, to enable the target network node to resume the RRC connection.
