  • Patent number: 5108714
Abstract: An exhaust gas recombiner for restoring hydrogen and oxygen gases in gases extracted from a condenser of a steam engine into water by reaction of the hydrogen and oxygen gases includes a vertical cylinder vessel having an extracted gas inlet at its lower end and an outlet at its upper end. A diameter of the vessel is substantially the same as that of an outlet piping connected to the outlet of the vessel for introducing gases leaving the vessel into an exhaust gas condenser. The apparatus further includes a plurality of units in the vessel. Each unit has a honeycomb structure for flow-rectifying gases flowing into the vessel through the extracted gas inlet and a honeycomb catalyst gas carrying on its surfaces a catalyst being positioned on an upper side of the honeycomb structure.

  • Patent number: 4830749
Abstract: A filter apparatus comprises a plurality of ceramic porous filter elements each having a number of through-apertures in parallel with each other whose front and rear ends are alternately closed, filter element casings arranging therein one of the filter elements, respectively, and piled one above the other with the filter elements received therein being spaced apart from each other and the front ends of the filter elements upward directing, raw liquid supply means for supplying a raw liquid to be filtered to the front ends of the filter elements, raw liquid supply chambers located between the filter elements for receiving the raw liquid from the raw liquid supply means, filtrate exhaust chambers located between the filter elements for receiving filtrate which has passed through the filter elements, and filtrate exhaust means for exhausting the filtrate from the filtrate exhaust chambers out of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4609430
Abstract: An apparatus for drying and powdering liquid radioactive wastes produced in radioactive material treating plants such as nuclear power stations comprising a vessel having liquid material inlet and outlet ports for liquid wastes, a support plate arranged in the vessel, a great number of spherical bodies piled in layers on the support plate, stirring means having stirring blades for rolling the spherical bodies, and heating means for heating the spherical bodies. An induction heating coil may be used as the heating means, when the spherical bodies are conductive. If electric resistance heating means is used, the spherical bodies are non-conductive. Hot air can be used for heating the spherical bodies. The electric resistance heating means consists of a plurality of resistance heaters one above the other around the vessel. The support plate is formed with slits concentric to each other and the stirring means is provided with pins rotating therewith and extending into the slits.

  • Patent number: 4566641
Abstract: A sheet breaking apparatus for breaking or cutting waste sheet materials according to the invention comprising a pair of endless band-like rotating body, one of which is driven downwardly or in a feeding direction of the sheet materials at a faster speed than that of the other rotating body driven upwardly in a direction opposite to the feeding direction, and cutting blades respectively fixedly arranged on the rotating bodies such that the cutting blades fixed to the downwardly driven rotating body are spaced apart with equal intervals respectively in longitudinal and transverse directions and the cutting blades fixed to the upwardly driven rotating body at least adjacent in the moving direction are not aligned with each other. With the arrangement, fibrous or soft synthetic resin sheets or the like difficult to be mechanically broken are easily and effectively cut or broken into small pieces to make easy next processes for burning, reclaiming or regenerating the waste materials.

  • Patent number: 4475860
Abstract: An apparatus for discharging radioactive waste from its container comprises a truck movable toward and away from the container by a driving motor, a seizing member including claws capable of closing and opening to seize and release the radioactive waste little by little, a cylinder connected to the seizing member for closing and opening the claws, a further cylinder for tilting the seizing member downwardly to eject the seized waste and a detector for detecting pressure caused by the seizing member penetrating into the waste when the truck is driven toward the container by the driving motor to produce signals for stopping the truck and operating the first mentioned cylinder to close the claws. The apparatus safely and securely discharges little by little the radioactive waste filled in the storage container without any risk of exposing operators to the radioactive radiation emitted from the waste, thereby saving time and labor and making easy next processes for burning it.
