  • Publication number: 20250053019
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and associated methods for calculating and displaying formation flight information, to include aircraft spacing, predicted trajectory data, collision avoidance alerts, time on target details, and chalk-specific information, on an augmented reality display designed to interface with aviation helmets. Two or more networked computing devices, each on a separate aircraft, collect some combination of aircraft altitude, location, and inertial data, preform certain calculations, and then develops a virtual overlay according to aircraft relative position and nearby aircraft trajectories. The virtual overlay is further informed by compass and gyroscopic data from an operatively coupled augmented reality display device. The developed virtual overlay is then transmitted to the display device for viewing by the pilot.

  • Publication number: 20240386673
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and associated methods for calculating and displaying formation flight information, to include aircraft spacing, predicted trajectory data, and lost visual contact alerts, on an augmented reality display designed to interface with aviation helmets. The augmented reality display device collects imagery of a leading aircraft from the vantage point of a pilot in a trailing aircraft. The collected imagery is processed through object detection, tracking, and orientation estimation techniques that return the leading aircraft's distance, direction, and orientation. The estimated leading aircraft data informs a generated virtual overlay. The generated virtual overlay is transmitted to the augmented reality display for viewing by the pilot in the trailing aircraft. The display of relevant formation flight information using augmented reality tools may result in improved formation flight spacing, emergency procedure response, and collision avoidance.

  • Patent number: 12136277
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and system to acquire aircraft flight data through visual analysis of flight instruments with a data capture neural network, to compare aircraft flight data to a standard of a flight maneuver with a data analysis neural network with minimal or no human input, to output a visualization of aircraft flight data and or analysis of aircraft flight data, and to acquire aircraft flight data, programmatically analyze aircraft flight data, and provide aircraft training to a prospective aircraft pilot.

  • Publication number: 20240292078
Abstract: A motorized cross-polarizer instrument for providing strategic cross-polarization is provided. In one exemplary embodiment, the instrument includes outer and inner housings. A polarizer, mounted inside the inner housing, permits rotation of the polarizer in tandem with the inner housing. A capstan, mounted inside the outer housing, permits rotation of the inner hosing relative to the outer housing. And a motor, connected to the capstan, rotates the inner housing. The instrument may be located on or place over a polarized digital display unit that includes a polarizer film thus forming a display system for providing strategic cross-polarization.

  • Publication number: 20230344831
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods and devices for identifying, verifying, and authenticating information attained from an individual's worn uniform. The novel technology captures images of uniformed members accessing on-installation facilities, uses computer vision filter and machine learning techniques to identify valuable on-uniform information, and then matches that information with a registered database of names for proper identification, verification, and optional authentication. The rapid identification, verification, and authentication of uniformed personnel significantly reduces the need to fill out excessive paperwork, saves valuable time, and generally streamlines bureaucracy across on-installation facilities.

  • Publication number: 20230117935
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for stabilizing a hoisted object. A hoisted object such as a litter can have a tendency spin while being retrieved on a lift line. A device may be connected to the hoisted object to reduce a spin or other angular velocity of the hoisted object. The device may monitor stability of the hoisted object and determine that the hoisted object is unstable. The device may be configured to rotate at least one flywheel to apply torque to an enclosure of the device.

  • Patent number: 11613365
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for an electromagnetic automatic deactivation device (ADD). An ADD may be used with an ejector-spring static line reserve parachute, common in low-altitude military jumps. Activating a reserve parachute from within an aircraft, while being towed by an aircraft, or when trapped inside another parachute, can result in significant injury, and may be fatal. An ADD may be added to the internal packaging of a reserve parachute to prevent its accidental activation. An ADD may be configured to sense ambient pressure, linear and rotational motion, and other data, to identify hazardous environmental conditions. An ADD may be further configured to support a towed jumper whose static line is cut, by strategically deactivating the electromagnetic assembly, and therefore activating the reserve parachute. The ADD may be modified to include the ability to override the ADD with a secondary pull on the ripcord handle.
