Abstract: A light fixture lens mounting system includes a lighting fixture body having an opening, a lens, and a lens mounting ring having structure for supporting the lens over the opening, the body opening and the lens mounting ring being fitted with a series of corresponding lugs for interlocking engagement. Preferably, the body lugs project outwardly from a rim to form an outwardly open groove and the ring lugs project inwardly from the ring to form an inwardly open groove to permit interlocking engagement of the body lugs in the ring groove and the ring lugs in the body groove. In particularly preferred forms, the body lugs include structure for supporting a gasket adjacent the lens to provide a weathertight seal. In other preferred forms, the body lugs extend inwardly to form an inwardly open groove, and the rings project outwardly from the ring to form an outwardly open groove to permit interlocking engagement of the body lugs in the ring groove and the ring lugs in the body groove.

Abstract: A modular lighting system includes a line of lighting fixtures with various body, lens, lamping system and mounting system alternative configurations, types and sizes. Many of the lighting system components are interchangeable among the different lighting fixtures. Others of the lighting fixture components can be fabricated by providing a blank with a certain configuration, (e.g., a hemispherical body) and separating it into one or more components forming portions thereof. A method of forming such modular lighting fixtures includes the steps of providing such interchangeable components and providing other components which can be formed from common blanks, mounting such fixtures with various mounting fixtures and lamping such fixtures with various electrical lamping systems.

Abstract: A housing system for ceiling mounted recessed luminaires includes a generally flat, rectangular mounting plate. A circular, vertically extending flange extends downwardly from the lower surface of the mounting plate. The diameter of the circular flange is substantially the same as the width of the mounting plate. A cylindrical lamp housing is secured to the mounting plate and extends upwardly therefrom. Mounting plate also has a junction box secured thereto with its largest dimesion disposed vertically from the mounting plate. An electronic conduit extends between the junction box and the lamp housing.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a lighting fixture mount, and more particularly to a heat dissipating or distributing lighting fixture mount which minimizes the transfer of heat generated by an incandescent bulb or the like in the fixture to the junction box providing the electrical power therefor, and most particularly to the screws which fasten the fixture to the junction box and consequently are exposed within the box to possible contact with the insulation of wires within the box. By preventing overheating of the support screws, the possibility of damaging the insulation and creating a short circuit is minimized.
