Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods of treatment of COVID-19 through pH modulation of the respiratory tract using a controlled delivery device. In some embodiments, the controlled delivery device includes an aerosolizer, a microprocessor, and a syringe. The controlled delivery device can be integrated with a humidifier or a ventilator. In some embodiments, two agents are delivered in conjunction using the controlled delivery device. In some embodiments, one agent is a physiologically compatible alkalizing agent, such as an aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate of strength 3%-8.4% at a pH ranging from 8 to 8.6 at 20° C. In some embodiments, one agent is an anti-inflammatory agent, such as corticosteroid ciclesonide.
