    Abstract: A latch assembly provides options for the retention within a rack of a chassis, and the retention within the chassis of a device. With the device in a device slot of the chassis, and the chassis installed in the rack, a first latch in a completely extended position prevents the device from being removed from the slot and prevents a latch tooth from being disengaged from the rack. With the first latch in an intermediate position, the latch tooth may be disengaged from the rack and the chassis removed from the rack, but the device may not be fully removed from the device slot. With the first latch in a retracted position the chassis may be removed from the rack and/or the device may be removed from the device slot.

    Abstract: An apparatus is provided for completing a blind mate hydraulic connection. A device is equipped at the rear of the device with a shell holding a manifold connected internally to the device cooling system. Clearances between the shell and manifold allow the manifold to rotate in two axes to adapt to a misalignment between the manifold and a rack cooling system. The device is further provided with a cam-handle attached to the front that provides leverage against the rack for overcoming the connection forces of the blind mate. The manifold and cam-handle combine to facilitate disconnecting the device from the rack cooling system from the front of the rack and servicing the device.

When the cam engages with the cam guide and transitions to the latched configuration, the cam translates a chassis of the computing unit along a longitudinal axis to blind-mate the quick disconnects.

    Abstract: An elevator provides for sliding and connecting or disconnecting an electronic device from a chassis circuit board and the subsequent removal of the device from a chassis slot. A sliding element between the device and the chassis includes tracks within which travel followers. Motion of the sliding element in a first direction causes the tracks to move with respect to the followers, pulling the device connector away from the mating circuit board connector. In a fully disconnected position, the device may be removed from the slot. Motion of the sliding element in the opposite direction causes the relative motion between the tracks and followers to urge the device connector toward the circuit board connector until, in a fully seated position, the device is connected to the circuit board.

    Abstract: An apparatus is provided for forcing a service technician to follow a proper servicing sequence that reduces the potential for an electric shock. Embodiments of the latch mechanism maintain a cable connection unless a tray connector is first disconnected. Embodiments enforce the disconnect sequence using a trigger that is actuated by the disconnecting of the tray connector, a latch-lock in the cable connector that is biased to block a cable connector disconnect mechanism, and a mechanical link between the trigger and the latch-lock. The actuation of the trigger is transmitted by the mechanical link to the latch-lock, which moves in response, unlocking the cable connector and allowing it to be disconnected.

    Abstract: An apparatus and system are provided for detecting leaks in cooling tubing using sensor cabling. In the leak detection system, a leak detection cable is routed along the full length of the cooling tube. The leak detection cable and the cooling tubing are encased within a shrunken tube, which leaves such a small gap between the cooling tubing and the heat-shrunk tube that leakage is distributed within the gap about the outside of the cooling tubing by capillary action. The relative position of the detection cable above or below the cooling tubing is then irrelevant, since the capillary action may overcome the effect of gravity and distribute leakage from the bottom of the tubing to a detection cable at the top of the tubing.

As the carrier is inserted into the slot, at a determined point the soft stopper impinges upon a bumper. Further movement of the carrier into the slot requires the user to force the soft stopper to compress or flex and bypass the bumper. With the chassis slot vertically oriented the soft stopper may maintain the carrier and electronic device in service position, disconnected, while service is performed on a chassis circuit board.

    Abstract: An apparatus for securing a cable access includes a first cable opening in a top plate of a server rack with a tray affixed to the interior side of the top plate and with a second cable opening that overlaps the first cable opening. A hatch element is movable in a space between the plate and tray to cover up the unneeded areas of the first and second cable openings after cables have been installed. A ratchet and pawl attached to the tray and hatch element cooperate to allow movement of the hatch element in a closing direction and resist movement of the hatch element in an opening direction, with a release element disengaging the ratchet and pawl to allow the hatch element to open.
