  • Publication number: 20240171089
Abstract: Various embodiments of an ultra-dense modular multilevel power converter are provided. In one example, a power converter includes a capacitor, and a circuit comprising a first switch and a second switch, wherein a switch throw of the first switch is coupled to a first terminal of the capacitor and a switch throw of the second switch is coupled to a second terminal of the capacitor, wherein a pole voltage is fully differential between a first pole of the first switch and a second pole of the second switch, and wherein the first pole and the second pole are isolated from the capacitor when the circuit is in a zero state. In this way, several such modules may be connected in series to form multilevel power converters with reduced capacitance requirements for coupling high-voltage sources.

  • Publication number: 20220391996
Abstract: According to examples, a system for coordinating and managing potential volunteers (i.e., volunteer blood donors) is disclosed. The system may include may include a processor and a memory storing instructions. The processor, when executing the instructions, may cause the system to receive partner data from one or more of a local partner and a global partner and determine a donation need based on the partner data. The processor may also cause the system to identify a pool of volunteer donors based on the donation need, build an online campaign to increase the pool of volunteer donors, and coordinate the pool of volunteer donors with the local or global partners based at least in part on a machine learning (ML) technique.

  • Patent number: 10607154
Abstract: An online system uses classifiers to predict the socioeconomic group of users of the online system. The classifiers use models that are trained using features based on global information about a population of users such as demographic information, device ownership, internet usage, household data, and socioeconomic status. The global information can be aggregated from market research questionnaires and provided to the online system. The classifiers input information about a user and output a probability that the user belongs to a given socioeconomic group. The input information is based on a user profile on the online system associated with the user as well as actions performed by the user on the online system. Thus, the online system can predict the user's socioeconomic group without using the user's income information. The online system can generate content for presentation to the user based on the predicted socioeconomic group.

  • Patent number: 10243447
Abstract: A controller controls power between a source and a load with a link capacitor. (a) A switch vector is selected based on load and source values, a capacitor voltage value, and a switch state selection mode. The switch vector identifies an on or off configuration for load and source switches during a subcycle that allow or do not allow current flow between the link capacitor and the load switch or source switch. (b) The state of the load and source switches is controlled in the on configuration or in the off configuration based on the selected switch vector. (c) It is determined that it is time to select a next switch vector. (a) to (c) are repeated for each subcycle of the determined number of switching subcycles. At least one load switch and at least one source switch are simultaneously in the on configuration during at least one subcycle.

  • Publication number: 20190036449
Abstract: A power converter provides a pyramidal structure of switches communicating between a capacitive divider at the base of the pyramid and a terminal at the top of the pyramid to provide a transformation of a relationship between current and voltage in power transferred between the capacitive divider and the terminal at the top of the pyramid while providing reduced electrical interference and electrical rate of change (dv/dt).

  • Patent number: 9954427
Abstract: A controller selects a first switch vector based on a current, voltage, or power of a multi-phase load or power source. The first switch vector identifies a first state for each of a plurality of half-bridges of a converter as on or as off during a first interval. A second switch vector is selected based on the current, voltage, or power of the multi-phase load or power source. The second switch vector identifies a second state for each of the half-bridges as on or as off during a second interval. The first interval is computed based on the selected first switch vector. The second interval is computed based on the selected second switch vector. Each of the plurality of half-bridges is controlled as on or as off during the first interval based on the selected first switch vector and during the second interval based on the selected second switch vector.
