  • Patent number: 7087889
Abstract: First and second targets, the numbers of which are coprime, are provided at a rotor. Two detecting means oppose each of the first and second targets to output detection signals having phases different from each other in accordance with each position of the targets as the rotor rotates. The rotational angle detecting apparatus has calculating means for executing a predetermined calculation based on each detection signal of the two detecting means and storage means for storing a relation between a result of calculation executed in advance by the calculating means and an electrical angle of a detection signal, obtains an electrical angle of each detection signal by referring to the storage means using a calculation result of the calculating means and detects a rotational angle of the rotor based on the obtained electrical angle. Consequently, no discontinuous portion forms in a detected steering angle signal and the differential signal thereof.

  • Patent number: 6536293
Abstract: A rotational angle detecting apparatus includes targets provided on a rotor to output a signal which repeats periodical increase and decrease in accordance with rotation of the rotor; a first detector for detecting an adjacent part of a target; and a second detector for detecting a part, which is a predetermined angle distant in a circumferential direction of the rotor from the part detected by the first detector, detects the rotational angle of the rotor based on the detected signal outputted from one of the detectors. The memory stores, corresponding to a detected signal value which should be outputted from selected one of the detectors, a detected signal value which should be synchronously outputted from the other detector. Malfunction can be detected by judging whether the detected signal value which is stored in the memory is approximately the same as the detected signal outputted actually.

  • Patent number: 6513396
Abstract: A cylindrical rotating member is provided with a magnetic element, which are an object that is detected, on the outer surface thereof. The magnetic element is led around the rotating member by one turn and is at an angle relative to the rotating direction of the rotating member in an approximately linear manner. End portions of the magnetic element are disposed at approximately the same position in the radial direction of the rotating member. Magnetoresistive elements are arranged in a direction perpendicular to the rotating direction of the magnetic element (in other words, axial direction of the rotating member) with a gap therebetween and oppose the magnetic element.
