  • Patent number: 10321262
Abstract: The geo-security method and system uses spatio-temporal radio channel information during authentication to grant permission to access, use and/or operate the intended device. The geo-security method and system uses a wideband radio channel impulse response (or transfer function of radio channel) from antenna of RF source to antenna of a RF receiver at the device position to determine the legitimacy of the intended device's location.

Date of Patent: June 11, 2019
Assignee: Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development
Inventors: Hassan Mohamed El-Sallabi, Mohamed Mahmoud Abdallah, Khalid Ali Qaraqe, Jean-Francois Chamberland, Gregory H. Huff
  • Patent number: 9819081
Abstract: The reconfigurable radio direction finder system and method uses a reconfigurable antenna to electronically cycle through a plurality of different antenna configurations to determine a signal direction. Specifically, the reconfigurable antenna is cycled through N different antenna configurations, where N is an integer greater than one, where each antenna configuration has a pointing direction associated therewith defined by an elevation angle ?n of an n-th antenna configuration, where n is an integer between 1 and N, and an azimuthal angle ?n of the n-th antenna configuration. A received signal strength of the radio signal is measured for each of the antenna configurations as a power output of the n-th antenna configuration, Pn.

  • Patent number: 8737362
Abstract: A method for interference-minimizing code assignment and system parameter selection for code division multiple access (CDMA) networks is disclosed. The method is performed at a base station or mobile station configured to operate in a CDMA radio network. The method includes receiving transmissions from user devices seeking to access the CDMA radio network. A spreading code is selected for a first user device seeking to access the network, using at least one cross-correlation parameter, to reduce multiple access interference between communications involving the first user device and other devices using the CDMA network. The method does not require knowledge of the active user codes or even the codebook from which these codes are assigned. Furthermore, it does not require knowledge of bit or chip epoch or the received powers of active users. However, the method can benefit from such knowledge in several ways, examples of which are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20090113611
Abstract: This invention relates generally to mechanics, and more specifically, to systems and methods for providing a toilet seat lifting device. In one embodiment, the toilet seat lifting device includes a base; a lever, the lever rotatably coupled to the base; and a weight, the weight coupled to the lever, wherein the base is configurable to being mounted on a toilet having a toilet seat and wherein gravitational force applied to the weight results in biased rotation of the lever to lift the toilet seat.
