  • Patent number: 12242874
Abstract: An information handling system may include a processor; a network interface; and a physical storage resource having data stored thereon that is usable by a virtual resource that is executable on the processor. The network interface may accelerate migration of the data to a destination system by, in response to a command from a virtual machine manager: offloading, from the processor, a copying process configured to copy the data to the destination system; tracking portions of the data that are changed by the virtual resource during the copying process; notifying the virtual machine manager that a designated checkpoint has been reached in the copying process; causing the virtual resource to pause; completing the copying process; and causing the virtual resource to resume and use the copied data at the destination instead of the data on the physical storage resource.

  • Patent number: 12234133
Abstract: A skip hoist particle lift system for a particle-based high-temperature power tower plant includes a pre-skip subsystem, an upper hopper disposed above the pre-skip subsystem and separated therefrom, a plurality of elongated guide rails connecting the pre-skip subsystem and the upper hopper to one another, and a skip mounted on the elongated guide rails and configured to be moved therealong between the pre-skip subsystem and the upper hopper. The pre-skip subsystem includes a container configured to accumulate an amount of hot particles therein and to automatically discharge the hot particles into the skip upon arrival of the skip in a loading area of the pre-skip subsystem. The skip is configured to transport the loaded particles upwardly toward the hopper and to subsequently discharge the particles inside of the hopper. Then, the emptied skip is returned to the pre-skip subsystem to repeat the process.

  • Patent number: 12215970
Abstract: The system for measuring the angle of repose of high temperature granular material includes a hollow chamber with an optically transparent window. A cylindrical receptacle is rotatably mounted within the hollow chamber, with an open end thereof releasably covered by an optically transparent plate. The cylindrical receptacle is oriented with respect to the hollow chamber such that the optically transparent plate faces, and is aligned with, the optically transparent window. The cylindrical receptacle is controllably rotated within the hollow chamber. The temperature within the hollow chamber may be selectively adjusted by one or more heating elements mounted therein. A camera detects the angle of repose of granular material in the cylindrical receptacle when the cylindrical receptacle is rotated within the hollow chamber. The camera is positioned such that the granular material may be viewed thereby through the optically transparent plate and the optically transparent window.

  • Patent number: 12142160
Abstract: An electronic device that detects and analyzes the energy emitted by brains of individuals. This device measures and analyzes the energy emitted from the brain activity of, for example, students, enabling the classification of students with learning difficulties based on the quantity of emitted energy. Leveraging established measuring devices, supported by computer programs akin to those utilized in electrocardiography, enables the prediction of both the quantity and speed of brain energy based on the magnetic field's intensity. By comparing the intensity of the magnetic field resulting from electrochemical energy in the brain with standard measurements for the general populace, learning difficulties can be diagnosed effectively.

  • Publication number: 20240010906
Abstract: Stimulation treatments are designed and performed in a manner that takes into account radial acid flow into the formation. A reservoir core plug is selected and a liner core flow test is performed. The core flow test comprises measuring a flowing fraction, injecting into the core plug a treatment volume of at least one candidate stimulation fluid at an injection rate at reservoir conditions, and measuring an effective reaction rate constant. The linear flow data are then scaled to radial flow. A skin, an acid concentration at a wormhole tip and a fluid velocity at a wormhole tip are calculated. A stimulation treatment is then performed. The method can also be performed on analog cores. The stimulation treatment may be matrix acidizing, fracture acidizing or acidizing natural fractures.

  • Patent number: 11840915
Abstract: Examples described herein provide for modeling acid flow for acid stimulation of a formation. An example method includes receiving data about the acid stimulation. The method further includes modeling, by applying the data about the acid stimulation to a model, a wormhole velocity of an acid injected into the formation during the acid stimulation, wherein the wormhole velocity is a function of a Darcy velocity of the acid. The method further includes determining whether the wormhole velocity satisfies a wormhole velocity threshold. The method further includes, responsive to determining that the wormhole velocity fails to satisfy the wormhole velocity threshold, modifying a stimulation parameter to adjust the wormhole velocity of the acid. The method further includes performing the acid stimulation based at least in part on the modified stimulation parameter.

  • Patent number: 11658936
Abstract: Virtual networks may be launched in a provider network with an initial IP address space (e.g., an IPv4 CIDR block). Methods are described that allow additional IP address spaces to be added to a virtual network. A new IP address space for a virtual network may be specified via an API. The specified space may be checked to insure that it does not overlap with IP spaces that are associated with the virtual network. If there are no overlaps, the space is added to the network, for example by adding the space to the network's route tables.

  • Publication number: 20220100599
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for automated testing of systems and applications. A computing device can be configured to receive a fault instruction specifying a fault to inject into one or more service requests sent to a service, parameters for the fault, and a duration of the fault. The computing device can then instantiate a service proxy and send a command to the service proxy, wherein the command specifies at least the fault and the parameters for the fault. Next, the computing device can cause service requests sent to the service to be redirected through the service proxy. The service proxy can receive a service request and generate a response to the service request that contains the fault based at least in part on the parameters for the fault. The service proxy can then return the response to the service request.
