    Abstract: A skip hoist particle lift system for a particle-based high-temperature power tower plant includes a pre-skip subsystem, an upper hopper disposed above the pre-skip subsystem and separated therefrom, a plurality of elongated guide rails connecting the pre-skip subsystem and the upper hopper to one another, and a skip mounted on the elongated guide rails and configured to be moved therealong between the pre-skip subsystem and the upper hopper. The pre-skip subsystem includes a container configured to accumulate an amount of hot particles therein and to automatically discharge the hot particles into the skip upon arrival of the skip in a loading area of the pre-skip subsystem. The skip is configured to transport the loaded particles upwardly toward the hopper and to subsequently discharge the particles inside of the hopper. Then, the emptied skip is returned to the pre-skip subsystem to repeat the process.

An implant is positioned within the barrel for delivery to a subject, and a plunger, also positioned within the barrel, moves toward the distal end of the body so as to push against the implant and cause the implant to move in the distal direction, through the needle.

The portable wind and solar power generator includes a housing for receiving at least one turbine and at least one electrical generator. At least one solar panel is mounted on the housing. The housing is rotatably mounted on an upper surface of a hollow base which houses at least one rechargeable battery. The at least one rechargeable battery is in electrical communication with the at least one electrical generator and the at least one solar panel for charging thereof. A wind vane mounted on a rear end of the housing causes ambient wind to rotate the housing, with respect to the hollow base, such that the ambient wind impinges upon the at least one turbine to drive the at least one electrical generator.

    Abstract: The Arabic bank check analysis and zone extraction method for courtesy amount, legal amount, and the date fields uses available information and performs adaptive local processing using projections and connected component analysis. The method performs skew correction and connected component analysis on the check image and removes components smaller than average size before identifying the regions using projection profiles. This leads to a highly effective and robust technique. The method is based on prior knowledge of the check zone structure.
