  • Patent number: 10757626
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for redirecting a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) to a dedicated core network (CN) node are described. An apparatus is configured to initiate a Service Request with a non-dedicated network node. The apparatus is configured to receive a special identifier in response to the Service Request, which indicates the apparatus should be redirected to a dedicated CN node based on subscription information. Radio access network resources associated with the apparatus may be released and the apparatus may then perform a tracking area update (TAU) request which is then forwarded to the dedicated CN node.

  • Patent number: 10743250
Abstract: A WTRU (102) may receive updated assistance information for network slice selection and/or reselection (410). The WTRU may apply local policies to determine when to use the updated assistance information to access a network slice (440). The WTRU may determine whether to contact an existing network slice function (470) or a new network slice function (460) to establish a connection to a network slice. Based on the determination, the WTRU may transmit different information to the network. The network slice selection and/or reselection may be initiated by a WTRU or by a network.

  • Publication number: 20200195696
Abstract: IoT service layer capabilities may be employed to automate and simplify the service enrollment process for IoT service subscribers/enrollees. These capabilities enable virtualization of a service subscriber and the physical IoT devices, applications, data and authorized users of the subscriber into a software profile that is representative of the subscriber. Once virtualized, a service subscriber may then delegate the complexities and burden of service enrollment to an automated IoT service enrollment software function.

  • Publication number: 20200178196
Abstract: A WTRU may initiate access for a PDU session over multiple access networks. The WTRU may register with two or more access networks. For example, the WTRU may register with a 3GPP access network (e.g., LTE Advanced) and a non-3GPP access network (e.g., Wi-Fi). The WTRU may determine to request a multi-access PDU session for a (e.g., at least one) PDU session. A multi-access PDU session may correspond to a PDU session where the WTRU communicates one or more PDUs associated with the PDU session over the 3GPP access network and one or more PDUs associated with the PDU session over the non-3GPP access network. The WTRU may receive a confirmation message indicating that a multi-access PDU session has been established. The WTRU may send uplink data over the 3GPP access network and the non-3GPP access network, e.g., in accordance with the established multi-access PDU session.

  • Publication number: 20200029373
Abstract: A method of communicating using proximity services (ProSe) is disclosed. A base station receives at least one aggregate maximum bit rate (AMBR) parameter from a network entity. The at least one AMBR parameter comprises a maximum bit rate that a first wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) can use for data sent on one or more ProSe bearers. The base station receives a request from the first WTRU to establish the one or more ProSe bearers with a second WTRU. The request comprises priority information of the one or more ProSe bearers determined by the first WTRU. The base station sends an indication to the first WTRU to establish a ProSe communication over the one or more ProSe bearers based on at least the AMBR parameter and the priority information of the one or more ProSe bearers.

  • Publication number: 20200022022
Abstract: A header compression indicator may be used to enable header compression between a device and a gateway and between end devices in a network of constrained devices. The header compression indicator may be used to signal that header compression is in use, along with which context is to be used, and parameters thereof. The header compression indicator may also be used to trigger creation, update, retrieval, or deletion of a header compression context dynamically. A header context data format may be used to convey the encoding of header option information and corresponding data used in the management of the header compression contexts. Header compression contexts may be created, modified, queried, or deleted dynamically via existing messaging frameworks and operations, e.g., by appending a header compression indicator to existing standard messages.

A ProSe function may retrieve a ProSe WTRU's location data from SLP and provide it to a monitoring WTRU via a ProSe discovery procedure or EPC-level ProSe discovery procedure. A ProSe function may retrieve a ProSe WTRU's location data from a ProSe WTRU and provide it to monitoring WTRUs via a ProSe discovery procedure. A ProSe WTRU may broadcast its location and/or other status information in a discovery message. A ProSe function may encrypt the location and/or other status information for encryption before broadcast. A ProSe WTRU may send its location and/or other status information via a user plane to another ProSe WTRU or ProSe group. A ProSe function may verify whether a WTRU is permitted to disclose and/or process information (e.g., location information) and may indicate to a WTRU whether to disclose information, e.g., before the information is disclosed, and/or whether to process the information.

  • Publication number: 20190387428
Abstract: Procedures, systems, and devices for addressing quality of service (QoS) during an intersystem change of a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) are discussed herein. A WTRU may send a protocol data unit (PDU) modification request to a network node, such as a session management function (SMF) device, indicating support for reflective quality of services (RQoS). In response to the modification request, the WTRU may then receive an acknowledgement, after which the WTRU may then be able to send data for a PDU of a specific RQoS. The RQoS may be specific to a single PDU or a plurality of PDUs. The modification request may include Session Management (SM) and/or Mobility Management (MM) information. The modification request may be included in an attach procedure or a tracking area update (TAU).
