Publication number: 20240011578Abstract: A snap-fit lever for actuation of a valve assembly has an elongated valve stem with a ball. The snap-fit lever has a handle portion and a seat portion coupled to the handle portion. The seat portion defines an entry, a retention cavity, and a passage from the entry to the retention cavity. The passage guides the ball from the entry to the retention cavity. The snap-fit lever has deflectable fingers protruding from the seat portion to form part of the retention cavity and the passage. The deflectable fingers deflect to allow the ball to move from the passage into the retention cavity and capture the ball. The deflectable fingers enable rotation of the handle portion about a first axis of the elongated valve stem and allow rotation of the handle portion about a second axis perpendicular to the first axis for moving the elongated valve stem into an actuated position.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 8, 2022Publication date: January 11, 2024Inventors: Philip S. Sweeting, Mahyar Esmaili, Paul J. Lake

Patent number: 11770891Abstract: A cartridge for an air-cooled plasma arc torch is provided. The cartridge includes a swirl ring having a molded thermoplastic elongated body with a distal end, a proximal end, and a hollow portion configured to receive an electrode. The swirl ring also has a plurality of gas flow openings defined by the distal end of the elongated body and configured to impart a swirling motion to a plasma gas flow for the plasma arc torch. The swirl ring further includes a nozzle retention feature on a surface of the elongated body at the distal end for retaining a nozzle to the elongated body. The cartridge further includes a cap affixed to the proximal end of the elongated body of the swirl ring for substantially closing the proximal end of the elongated body.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2019Date of Patent: September 26, 2023Assignee: Hypertherm, Inc.Inventors: Yu Zhang, Zheng Duan, Mahyar Esmaili, Mike Kornprobst, Brett Hansen, Garrett Quillia

Publication number: 20230151975Abstract: An isolation valve assembly comprises a valve body defining a first fluid port and a second fluid port opposing the first fluid port and at least one drain port disposed between the first fluid port and the second fluid port, an isolation valve disposed within the valve body and a handle operatively coupled to the isolation valve. The handle is movable to cause corresponding movement of the isolation valve between a first normal position where the isolation valve fluidly couples the first fluid port and the second fluid port, and a second drain position where the isolation valve fluidly couples the first fluid port and the at least one drain port and isolates the second fluid port.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 17, 2023Publication date: May 18, 2023Inventors: James Erhardt, Mahyar Esmaili

Patent number: 11603995Abstract: A tankless water heater (TWH) isolation valve includes a valve body having a plug valve port, a TWH port, a water distribution system port and a drain port. A plug valve includes at least one plug seal. The plug valve is controlled by a rotatable plug valve handle. The plug valve is disposed through the plug valve port and within the valve body. The rotatable plug valve handle includes a first plug valve handle position and a different rotated second plug valve handle position. In a normal operating mode in the first plug valve handle position, the TWH port is fluidly coupled to both of the drain port and the water system distribution port. In a drain mode, the TWH port is fluidly coupled to the drain port, and the water system distribution port is closed to the TWH port as blocked by the plug seal.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2021Date of Patent: March 14, 2023Assignee: Watts Regulator Co.Inventors: James Erhardt, Mahyar Esmaili
