  • Patent number: 7538350
Abstract: It is a problem to provide a semiconductor device production system using a laser crystallization method capable of preventing grain boundaries from forming in a TFT channel region and further preventing conspicuous lowering in TFT mobility due to grain boundaries, on-current decrease or off-current increase. An insulation film is formed on a substrate, and a semiconductor film is formed on the insulation film. Due to this, preferentially formed is a region in the semiconductor film to be concentratedly applied by stress during crystallization with laser light. Specifically, a stripe-formed or rectangular concavo-convex is formed on the semiconductor film. Continuous-oscillation laser light is irradiated along the striped concavo-convex or along a direction of a longer or shorter axis of rectangle.

  • Publication number: 20090128338
Abstract: In commercial products to which a non-contact type or contact type ID label or ID tag is attached and ID cards, there is fear that, due to a difference between coefficients of thermal expansion between an antenna for communication and a resin provided around the antenna, stress is applied to the resin with the larger coefficient of thermal expansion to break the resin. This contributes to decrease in manufacturing yield, lifetime, and reliability of an ID label or the like. In an article such as an ID label, an ID tag, and an ID card according to the present invention, a filler is included in a filling layer provided around an antenna forming an ID label, an ID tag, and an ID card so that the difference in coefficient of thermal expansion between the antenna and the filling layer can be reduced. This makes it possible to ease generation of stress due to the difference in coefficient of thermal expansion and prevent peeling and cracks of the filling layer.

  • Patent number: 7525118
Abstract: To provide a TEG capable of early stage feedback of testing contents and a method of testing using the TEG. TFTs for TEG are manufactured on a different substrate than actual panel TFTs by using from among processes for manufacturing actual panel TFTs, processes that may easily lead to dispersion in the TFT characteristics, and the minimum number of processing steps necessary for TFT manufacture. The number of processing steps is fewer than the number for the actual panel, and therefore it is possible to complete the TFTs for TEG quicker than those of the actual panel, and it becomes possible to feed back an evaluation of the TEG TFT characteristics to the actual panel manufacturing process at an early stage. Time and costs associated with manufacture of the actual panel can therefore be suppressed.

  • Patent number: 7510920
Abstract: Position control of a crystal grain in accordance with an arrangement of a TFT is achieved, and at the same time, a processing speed during a crystallization process is increased. More specifically, there is provided a manufacturing method for a semiconductor device, in which crystal having a large grain size can be continuously formed through super lateral growth that is artificially controlled and substrate processing efficiency during a laser crystallization process can be increased. In the manufacturing method for a semiconductor device, instead of performing laser irradiation on an entire semiconductor film within a substrate surface, a marker as a reference for positioning is formed so as to crystallize at least an indispensable portion at minimum. Thus, a time period required for laser crystallization can be reduced to make it possible to increase a processing speed for a substrate.

  • Patent number: 7498206
Abstract: Irrespective of a specification of the controller, a plurality of TFTs are formed for the controller on a substrate in advance. Then, in accordance with a design of the controller, connection is achieved among sources, drains, and gates, which serve as three terminals in each of the plural TFTs, appropriately through a wiring formed on a layer different from the one where the plural TFTs are formed, so that the controller with a desired specification is formed. At this time, it is not required to use all the TFTs arranged on the substrate and some TFTs may remain unused depending on the specification of the controller.

  • Publication number: 20080303408
Abstract: The present invention has an object of providing a light emitting device including an OLED formed on a plastic substrate, which can prevent the degradation due to penetration of moisture or oxygen. On a plastic substrate, a plurality of films for preventing oxygen or moisture from penetrating into an organic light emitting layer in the OLED (hereinafter, referred to as barrier films) and a film having a smaller stress than that of the barrier-films (hereinafter, referred to as a stress relaxing film), the film being interposed between the barrier films, are provided. Owing to a laminate structure of a plurality of barrier films, even if a crack occurs in one of the barrier films, the other barrier film(s) can effectively prevent moisture or oxygen from penetrating into the organic light emitting layer. Moreover, the stress relaxing film, which has a smaller stress than that of the barrier films, is interposed between the barrier films, thereby making it possible to reduce a stress of the entire sealing film.

  • Publication number: 20080149731
Abstract: As a non-contact ID label, ID tag and the like being widespread, it is required to manufacture a considerable quantity of ID labels at quite a low cost. An ID label attached to a product is, for example, required to be manufactured at 1 to several yens each, or preferably less than one yen. Thus, such a structure and a process are demanded that an ID label can be manufactured in a large quantity at a low cost. A thin film integrated circuit device included in the ID label, the ID card, and the ID tag of the invention each includes a thin film active element such as a thin film transistor (TFT). Therefore, by peeling a substrate on which TFTs are formed for separating elements, the ID label and the like can be manufactured in a large quantity at a low cost.

  • Patent number: 7279372
Abstract: Island-like semiconductor films and markers are formed prior to laser irradiation. Markers are used as positional references so as not to perform laser irradiation all over the semiconductor within a substrate surface, but to perform a minimum crystallization on at least indispensable portion. Since the time required for laser crystallization can be reduced, it is possible to increase the substrate processing speed. By applying the above-described constitution to a conventional SLS method, a means for solving such problem in the conventional SLS method that the substrate processing efficiency is insufficient, is provided.
