  • Publication number: 20040205213
Abstract: A computer may be remotely accessed. At a first location, display commands are generated. The display commands are covered into a compressed video data stream. Each display element (5) is checked if it is encoded (52). If object is encoded, it is transcribed into MPEG (54). The image is adjusted for display (56) and compression (58). Additional steps of motion determination (60), change detection (62), compression depth and frame determination (66, 68) are executed. Then the data is transmitted to a second location. The display commands are decompressed and displayed as an image at the second location.

  • Patent number: 6571127
Abstract: The invention comprises methods of increasing contractile force and/or the motility of a GI tract. A first method comprises selecting a portion of the GI tract and applying a non-excitatory electric field to the portion, which field increases the force of contraction at the portion. A second method comprises determining a timing of a returning wave in the GI tract and applying an electric field to at least a portion of the GI tract, which electric field reduces the response of the GI tract to the returning wave.

  • Patent number: 6463324
Abstract: This invention is an apparatus for heart packing with cardiac output modification, including one or more electrodes (27, 29) which apply electrical signals to muscle. Signal generation circuitry (26) applies an excitatory electrical pulse to at least one of the one or more electrodes to pace the heart and a non-excitatory stimulation pulse to at least one of the one or more electrode s to modify the cardiac output. Preferably the circuitry synchronizes the non-excitatory stimulation pulse with the pacing pulse.

  • Patent number: 6332089
Abstract: A medical probe such as a catheter (20) is guided within the body of a patient by determining the relative positions of the probe relative to another probe, as by transmitting non-ionizing radiation to or from field transducers (30, 230) mounted on both probes. In one embodiment, a site probe (28) is secured to a lesion within the body, and an instrument probe (200) for treating the lesion may be guided to the lesion by monitoring relative positions of the probes. Two or more probes may be coordinated with one another to perform a medical procedure.
