  • Publication number: 20190166150
Abstract: A method and system of identifying technical experts for an identified vulnerability is provided. One or more technical experts for each of one or more categories of the vulnerability are identified. Questions are sent to and answers are received from the one or more identified technical experts for each of the one or more categories of vulnerabilities, via a chatbot module. Answers to parameters that are missing for a Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) for the identified vulnerability are determined from the received answers to the parameters. The answers to the parameters are validated and a CVSS score is calculated based on the validated determined answers.

  • Publication number: 20190156191
Abstract: A mobile electronic device such as a smartphone is used in conjunction with a deep learning system to detect and respond to personal danger. The deep learning system monitors current information (such as location, audio, biometrics, etc.) from the smartphone and generates a risk score by comparing the information to a routine profile for the user. If the risk score exceeds a predetermined threshold, an alert is sent to the smartphone which presents an alert screen to the user. The alert screen allows the user to cancel the alert (and notify the deep learning system) or confirm the alert (and immediately transmit an emergency message). Multiple emergency contacts can be designated, e.g., one for a low-level risk, another for an intermediate-level risk, and another for a high-level risk, and the emergency message can be sent to a selected contact depending upon the severity of the risk score.

  • Patent number: 10295983
Abstract: In an electrical power outlet device, a processor and a memory are configured to execute an application within the outlet device, which computes a pattern of usage of the outlet device. A set of sensors in the outlet device includes a first sensor that is usable to detect an event in an environment in which the outlet device is supplying power. The environment includes elements that are not participating in an electrical circuit that receives power from the outlet device and the event is usable by the application to alter the pattern of usage. An autonomous modification of an operation of the outlet device is performed in response to the pattern of usage, the event, or both. The operation changes a power supplying state of the outlet device without using an external switching apparatus or an external logic implemented outside the outlet device.

  • Patent number: 10255136
Abstract: Managing data backup during workload migration is provided. A set of workloads for migration from a source environment to a target environment is identified in response to receiving a request to migrate the set of workloads. The migration of the set of workloads is initiated from the source environment to the target environment along with migration of backup data corresponding to the set of workloads. A backup configuration transformation from a backup configuration corresponding to the source environment to a set of backup configurations corresponding to the target environment is determined based on semantic matching between characteristics of the backup configuration corresponding to the source environment and characteristics of the set of backup configurations corresponding to the target environment, a state of the source environment, backup configuration transformation actions, and a goal state of the target environment.

  • Publication number: 20190079481
Abstract: A processor-implemented method controls ameliorative devices. A cognitive mediator system receives, from one or more physical sensors, physical state readings that describe a physical environment of multiple persons that are in spatial proximity with one another. The cognitive mediator system, based on the physical state readings, determines: a cognitive state (S), a context (C), and an activity pattern (P) of the multiple persons. The cognitive mediator system, based on S, C, and P, identifies a detrimental state of the multiple persons, as well as one or more ameliorative devices that are known to ameliorate the detrimental state of the multiple persons. The cognitive mediator system then transmits, to a device controller, a device activation signal to activate the identified ameliorative device(s).

  • Patent number: 10216486
Abstract: One or more processors receive information regarding a program module that includes a description of a function, license terms, and non-functional properties of the program module. The license terms, the description of function, and the non-functional properties of the program module are identified, based on an analysis of the information. An object of interest of each license term of the license terms is determined, such that the object of interest is directed to a condition influencing license term compliance. Rules corresponding to compliance of the one or more license terms of the program module are determined, and the analyzed information of the program module is stored in a meta-model format organized into categories including the description of function, the one or more license terms, and the non-functional properties of the program module, utilizing standardized syntax and semantics.

  • Patent number: 10207718
Abstract: A method causes a self-driving vehicle (SDV) to warn passengers of an upcoming maneuver, and to explain why the SDV will be making the upcoming maneuver. One or more processors receive sensor readings that describe a condition of a roadway upon which a self-driving vehicle (SDV) is traveling, where the sensor readings are from roadway sensors that detect water on the roadway. The processor(s) reroute the SDV due to the water on the roadway, and provide an explanation to an occupant of the SDV that describes the water on the roadway as a reason for rerouting the SDV.
