  • Publication number: 20020076108
Abstract: A region extraction apparatus for extracting a desired region from a moving image, includes a region specifying unit for specifying contour points of a region which is to be extracted, a template creating unit for creating a template of the region which is to be extracted based on the contour points of the region specified by the region specifying unit, a template matching unit for matching the template created by the template creating unit and the moving image, and a template correcting unit for correcting the template depending on a matching result obtained by the template matching unit.

  • Publication number: 20020061143
Abstract: There is provided a method for automatically set a spatial resolution for an image to be encoded by properties of an image during an encoding process. The method includes the steps of dividing the moving image into blocks and compression encoding the moving image for each of the blocks, decoding an encoded moving image, obtaining a block distortion ratio from a decoded image, and making a resolution decision to select a first resolution lower than a current spatial resolution if the block distortion ratio is greater than a first threshold value or a second resolution higher than the current spatial resolution if the block distortion ratio is smaller than a second threshold value.

  • Patent number: 5754317
Abstract: A holographic stereogram which includes a plurality of element holograms and which reproduces a stereoscopic image by irradiation of coherent light, wherein each element hologram is loaded with a modulation value (pattern) corresponding to the stereoscopic image, the modulation value being a one-dimensional or two-dimensional transform coefficient obtained by one-dimensional or two-dimensional cosine transform or discrete cosine transform of the distribution of the intensity of diffraction light expressing the stereoscopic image, enabling simplification of the drive system of the display device displaying the stereoscopic image and reproduction of the original stereoscopic image much more faithfully.

  • Patent number: 5703704
Abstract: A stereoscopic image information transmission system which combines into one unit the information source coding means of the stereoscopic image, which was indispensable at the transmission side in conventional systems, and the interference fringe generating means, for generating the interference fringes expressing the stereoscopic image, into one by an image processing means utilizing a specific conversion rule effective for information compression, whereby it becomes possible to eliminate the information source decoding means which had been required at the reception side in conventional systems, which system thereby enables the hardware on the transmission side to be made much smaller and which enables the load on the transmission line from the transmission side to the reception side to be lightened.
