  • Patent number: 6542135
Abstract: The display device of the present invention is provided with a means (8) for setting the writing pulse width of the attentional light-emitting sub-field wider than the normal writing pulse width at all the gray scale levels in the case where at least two continuous non-light-emitting sub-fields possibly exist before the attentional light-emitting sub-field at a certain gray scale level among all the gray scale levels specified on the basis of the number Z of sub-fields and the weighting of the sub-fields. According to the display device of the present invention, the discharge for writing can be stably executed without reducing the number of sub-fields in one field.

  • Patent number: 6437514
Abstract: An AC plasma display device allows the display quality improved, to perform a write operation reliably and reduce a write operation period by reducing discharge delay at the write operation. Pairs of scan electrode and sustain electrode are arranged on a front substrate in parallel and covered by a dielectric layer. A protect film is formed on the dielectric layer. Data electrodes covered by an insulating layer are formed on a rear substrate. Partitions are located on the insulating layer in parallel with and between data electrodes. Conductive phosphor layers made of a mixture comprising an insulating phosphor material and a conductive material are formed from the surface of the insulating layer to each side of the partitions. Ignition gaps are defined between a surface of the protective film and peaks of the phosphor layer close to the surface.

  • Patent number: 6294875
Abstract: A method of driving an AC plasma display panel for carrying out gray-scale display using a structure in which each field consists of a plurality of subfields, each of which includes an initialization period, a write period, and a sustain period. At least in one predetermined subfield out of the plurality of subfields, at least a part of a sustain operation in the sustain period and at least a part of an initialization operation in the initialization period in a subsequent subfield are carried out at the same time. The visibility of black is improved considerably and the contrast can be enhanced greatly.

  • Patent number: 6208072
Abstract: An image display apparatus includes a vacuum container whose inside is kept under vacuum, a fluorescent layer, an electron emission source having an electron source which is arranged in a matrix and electrodes having a function for focusing and deflecting electron beams, and the fluorescent layer is illuminated by the electron beam. The average electric field strength between the fluorescent layer and the electrodes is set to be stronger than that between the electrodes and the electron emission source. Consequently, electron beams can be deflected in predetermined directions, and electron beams that land on the fluorescent layer can be focused to be a predetermined size. As a result, electron beams can be landed exactly at predetermined positions of the fluorescent layer having an arrangement whose number is more than the number of the electron emission source, and an image display apparatus having high resolution can be provided.

  • Patent number: 6043570
Abstract: A driving circuit for a capacitive load includes an amplifier for applying voltage with large amplitude to the capacitive load in order to reduce the power consumption of the amplifier is disclosed. The driving circuit for the capacitive load applies the voltages Vout, Vout' amplified by a first amplifier and a second amplifier Q.sub.2, Q.sub.3, Q.sub.2 ', Q.sub.3 ' to a first capacitive load C, and a second capacitive load C'. The applied voltages Vout and Vout' have the opposite phase to each other. The driving circuit for the capacitive load includes a first emitter follower circuit Q.sub.1 and a second emitter follower circuit Q.sub.1 ' for converting the supplied voltage Vcc from the power supply source of the driving circuit to the voltage which is higher by predetermined voltages E.sub.1, E.sub.1 ' than the output voltage Vout, Vout' of the first amplifier and the second amplifier respectively. The driving circuit for the capacitive load includes a switching part using diodes D.sub.1 and D.sub.2 (D.

  • Patent number: 5708834
Abstract: A client-server type network having at least two clients which execute the same kind of operation. The server and the clients are improved in order to realize addition or reduction in the number of clients. When the client is started, the fact that the client in under operation is recorded in the data base of the server. Since the addition of a client is automatically recorded in the server, the addition is easily facilitated. The server is provided with a client managing device for judging whether or not the client is under operation by polling. If the client is stopped due to a problem or the like, the fact is automatically recorded in the data base of the server. Therefore, it is also easy to eliminate the client from the data base of the server.
