  • Publication number: 20200062149
Abstract: A 3-point seatbelt device includes webbing for restraining an occupant, with one end of the webbing disposed on one seat width direction side of a rear portion of a seat cushion frame, and includes a buckle to engage with a tongue plate. The rod shaped submarining restriction member spans across a front portion of the seat cushion frame in the seat width direction, is actuated by a first load imparted to the webbing from a seated occupant in a frontal collision of the vehicle, and moves toward a vehicle upper side from a pre-actuation normal position toward a post-actuation restricting position. The pair of load transmission members are respectively coupled to the submarining restriction member and either the one end of the webbing or the buckle in a seat front-rear direction.

  • Patent number: 10434980
Abstract: There is provided a vehicle seat belt system including: webbing that has one end anchored to one seat width direction side surface of a vehicle seat or to a vehicle body, and that restrains an occupant seated in the vehicle seat; a retractor to which another end of the webbing is engaged and that is configured to take up the webbing, the retractor being provided with a pretensioner which, when activated, pulls in the webbing; a buckle, with which a tongue plate attached to the webbing can be engaged; a force limiter that allows the buckle to move to thereby reduce a tensile load acting on the webbing due to activation of the pretensioner; and a warning section that is configured to utilize movement of the buckle resulting from the force limiter to notify the occupant of an abnormality that the force limiter has been activated.

  • Patent number: 8226115
Abstract: An objective is to inflate an inflation portion to an upward position, corresponding with a temple area of an occupant, at the time of a side impact. At a shoulder portion of a seatback 26 of a vehicle seat 12, there is an inflation-time cross-sectional shape regulation component 22, through which an occupant restraint webbing 16 passes. The occupant restraint webbing 16 has an inflation portion 18 that corresponds with a cephalic region 14H of an occupant 14 at the time of inflation. At the time of inflation of the inflation portion 18, the inflation-time cross-sectional shape regulation component 22 regulates such that a cross-sectional shape of the inflation portion 18 is an oblong shape which is long in a vertical direction.

  • Patent number: 7938441
Abstract: In a vehicle front structure 12, when there is a frontal collision of a vehicle, an air bag 32 is inflated and deployed to the outside of a column cover 22, and thereby, the knees of a driver are restrained and protected by the air bag 32. A right side wall 28C and a left side wall 28D of a second lower column cover 28 are opened by the air bag 32 inflating and deploying. Consequently, the air bag 32 can be inflated and deployed with certainty to the vehicle right and left sides of the column cover 22.

  • Patent number: 7896386
Abstract: In a knee airbag attached to a steering column, the knee airbag is inflated and deployed quickly to a small space between an instrument panel and the knees of a vehicle occupant in a collision. A knee airbag 36 of a knee airbag device 10 is formed of a first inflation portion 38 which extends in a vehicle lateral direction along an instrument panel 12 side, and a second inflation portion 46, which is deployed to a vehicle occupant knee side. A gas supply opening 42, to which gas ejected from an inflator 22 is supplied, is disposed at a first inflation portion 38 side. The gas supply opening 42, and the pair of protection portions 46 provided at left and right end portions of knee airbag 36, are provided on substantially the same line in a vehicle lateral direction, and the first inflation portion 36 communicates the two as a gas flow path.

  • Patent number: 7819419
Abstract: An occupant protection device includes an airbag 10 that is inflated with gas from an inflator 20 at a side of an occupant B to protect the body of the occupant B from the shoulder Ba to the lumbar Bd, the airbag 10 having substantially the same vertical dimension as that of a seat back Aa. In this occupant protection device, uninflatable sections 12 and 13 are formed in a vertical center portion 10c of the airbag 10, that is, at a position corresponding to the chest Bb and the abdomen Bc of the occupant B. Accordingly, a region which is thinner than an upper portion 10a and a lower portion 10b of the airbag 10 in a vehicle width direction when the airbag 10 is inflated and that extends substantially parallel to the seat back Aa is formed substantially at the center of the airbag 10.

  • Patent number: 7625007
Abstract: An airbag device for a vehicle includes a gas supply portion, an airbag body, and a low-pressure portion. When a vehicle collision occurs, the gas supply portion injects gas into an airbag body. The airbag body has a single-chamber structure. When the airbag body receives the gas from the gas supply portion, the airbag body is inflated and deployed toward an occupant to restrain the shoulders of the occupant. The low-pressure portion is provided in the same area of the airbag body, which faces the occupant when the airbag body is inflated and deployed, to protect the occupant's head. When the airbag body is inflated and deployed, the low-pressure portion is inflated such that the pressure in the low-pressure portion is lower than the pressure in the airbag body.

  • Patent number: 7559573
Abstract: A side airbag has a lower chamber corresponding to the chest of the occupant and an upper chamber corresponding to the head of the occupant. A strap is provided at the boundary between the lower and upper chambers. The attachment position of a door-side attachment portion of the strap is higher than the attachment position of a seat-side attachment portion of the strap and lower than the upper end of a door trim or at the same height as the upper end of the door trim. Thus, the peripheral length from the upper end of a door-side base cloth of the side airbag to the door-side attachment portion of the strap is shorter than the peripheral length from the upper end of a seat-side base cloth of the side airbag to the seat-side attachment portion of the strap. As such, upon deployment of the side airbag, the upper chamber can be raised up toward a door window glass.

  • Patent number: 7290730
Abstract: A pinion of a pretensioner is provided at a side of a torsion shaft, which side is opposite a side connected integrally to a spool via a sleeve. A base lock of a lock mechanism is connected to the pinion. Due to the lock mechanism operating, a leg plate side end portion of the torsion shaft is locked. In this way, due to operation of the pretensioner, the pinion, which is connected to a rotating portion of a sleeve, also is locked by the locking mechanism. Therefore, a piston of the pretensioner is not lowered, and internal pressure of a cylinder does not affect deformation of the torsion shaft.
