  • Patent number: 6839101
Abstract: An electronic apparatus with a liquid crystal display (LCD) such as a folding cellular phone, by which display contents on the LCD is viewable even when the apparatus is closed, and thus improving the visibility of the LCD. The folding electronic apparatus comprises a display unit housing and an operation unit housing, which are connected by a hinge in a manner permitting a turning movement of each housing. The display unit housing is fitted with a transmissive LCD, both sides of which are viewable, and the operation unit housing has input keys. The apparatus further comprises a display control means for controlling the LCD to display reversed display contents if necessary depending on whether a user views the front side of the LCD or its backside. One side of the operation unit housing, which is in face-to-face contact with the LCD when the apparatus is folded, is reflectorized for reflecting the light to the LCD.

  • Patent number: 6759944
Abstract: A radio selective-calling receiver with a displaying function, which can clearly distinguish the difference between a confirmed message and an unconfirmed message by a user, is provided. A controller makes a memory memorize a newly received message. At the time when the memorized message is read out and is displayed on the displaying section, the controller makes an unconfirmed symbol flash in order to show that the message is an unconfirmed message. At the case that an input of a switch by the user, which is the confirming operation by the user, is not implemented within the predetermined time, the controller sets an automatic informing stop status at the information of automatic informing stop memorizing section in a memory. And the controller also makes a message memorizing section memorize the message as a message having an unconfirmed state.

  • Patent number: 5986567
Abstract: A selectively called wireless receiver extracts a reception message signal destined to an intrastation from an electromagnetic wave wireless signal. When the peripheral area of the selectively called wireless receiver is quiet and dark, a message is outputted by voice. When the peripheral area of the selectively called wireless receiver is noisy and light, a message is outputted by display. When the peripheral area of the selectively called wireless receiver is quiet and light, a message is outputted by both of voice and display. When the peripheral area of the selectively called wireless receiver is nosy and dark, the reception message signal is temporarily stored in a memory and then a message is outputted after the peripheral area is changed to a good environment condition.

  • Patent number: 5973615
Abstract: In a radio display pager, the user enters a time indication if he desires to read a particular group of stored messages. If the time indication is entered, the particular group of messages is detected from the stored messages and each of the detected messages is displayed in response to a key operation by the user. If the time indication is not entered, each of the stored messages is displayed in response to a key operation on the keypad by the user.

  • Patent number: 5726642
Abstract: A selective calling radio receiver includes a message memory for distinguishably storing the message as non-read message and read message, and a control portion. The control portion performs a non-read alarm when the non-read message is stored in the message memory and a normal alarm when there is no non-read message stored therein. The control portion also has a function of performing a call alarm termination and display of message and storing the message in the message memory as a read message when a switch for requesting termination of the call alarm is pushed at a time of a call alarm and terminating the call alarm and storing the message in the message memory as a non-read message when the switch is not operate after a specific period of time.

  • Patent number: 5652571
Abstract: In a radio paging receiver in which a CPU (6) stores a received message in one of message areas of a message memory (8) as an unconfirmed message and in which an announcing section (11-18) carries out a call announcement in response to the received message, the CPU makes the announcing section announce an unconfirmed message full announcement instead of the call announcement when each message area is filled with the unconfirmed message and when an announcement stop instruction is not received from a keyboard (10) within a predetermined time interval from a time instant at which the call announcement is started. The unconfirmed message full announcement has an announcing pattern which is different from that of the call announcement.
