Abstract: Disclosed is an absorbent article including a main body having: a liquid-permeable surface sheet; a back sheet; and an absorbent core sandwiched therebetween, and two leakage preventing walls provided on two sides of the main body. The overlap of the absorbent core and the surface sheet includes: a main absorbent portion located between the two leakage preventing walls and at the center of the overlap in the widthwise direction; and two grooved portions formed by depressing the overlap and each located between the main absorbent portion and corresponding one of the two leakage preventing walls. The fiber densities of the portion of the surface sheet forming the main absorbent portion, the portion of the surface sheet forming the grooved portion and the leakage preventing wall are related in the order of the grooved portion>the leakage preventing wall>the main absorbent portion.

Abstract: There is disclosed an absorbent article including: a liquid-permeable top sheet; a back sheet; and an absorbent core sandwiched between the top sheet and back sheet. The back sheet is formed of a resin film containing an inorganic filler in a resin base material. The back sheet includes: a stretched moisture-permeable region; and a high optical transmittance region having a lower degree of orientation than that of the moisture-permeable region and/or left unstretched.

Abstract: A disposable diaper includes a topsheet, a backsheet and an absorbent core therebetween. The backsheet is made of an air-permeable but liquid-impermeable plastic film having a surface thereof whitened by fine particles of an inorganic substance contained therein. An indicator 18 provided between the backsheet and the absorbent core. The indicator includes a layer of printed ink adapted to be visually revealed when it is wetted with discharged urine and a masking region disposed between the layer of printing ink and the backsheet so as to cover the layer of printed ink, and the masking region contains a surfactant.

Abstract: A disposable diaper is provided with an indicator adapted to be revealed as it is wetted with discharged urine and to tell a mother her baby's urination. The indicator comprises a hydrophilic base sheet, a first coating layer formed on one side of the base sheet so as to develop its proper color as the indicator is wetted with urine, and a second coating layer formed on the other side of the base sheet or upper surface of the first coating layer and intermittently bonded to the inner surface of the backsheet so that the second coating layer covers up the first coating layer. The second coating layer becomes transparent as the indicator is wetted with urine.

Abstract: A disposable absorbent article such as a disposable diaper including first stretchable side flaps extending over transversely opposite outer zones of the diaper and second stretchable side flaps functioning as liquid-barriers each having a proximal edge and a distal edge arranged so as to define an exposed zone of a topsheet along each of transversely opposite side edge surfaces of a liquid-absorbent core and thereby, if a quantity of liquid excretions gets over the distal edge of the second side flaps, it can be absorbed by the liquid-absorbent core through the exposed zones.

Abstract: A welding method for a disposable diaper includes the steps of putting wing-like portions 21, 22 provided on front and rear bodies 5, 6 including a topsheet 2, a backsheet 3 and a core 4 sandwiched therebetween, one upon another, with the topsheet disposed face to face; placing covering sheets 20 on an outer surface of the wing-like portions, both the covering sheets and the wing-like portions having a melting point higher than themelting point of the backsheet; and welding, under heat and pressure exerted from above the covering sheets, laterally opposite side edges of the wing-like portions.

Abstract: A disposable diaper is provided with a pair of elastic crotch zone cuffs extending in parallel to each other longitudinally across a front zone, a crotch zone and a rear zone, said cuffs each being bonded along a base thereof as well as at portion of longitudinally opposite end thereof and in proximity thereof base to a topsheet inside transversely opposite side edges of a liquid-absorbent core sandwiched between a topsheet and a backsheet so as to be collapsed inwardly of said diaper and have free side edges thereof folded outwardly onto non-folded portions of the cuffs which have already been collapsed, and longitudinally opposite ends of said free side edges being bonded to the cuffs or to the topsheet.

Abstract: To obtain a disposable diaper having at its respective waist sides welded zones which provide smooth touch, herein disclosed a method for making a disposable diaper 1 comprising steps of putting wing-like portions 21, 22 provided on front and rear bodies 5, 6 of the diaper 1 one upon another with a topsheet 2 facing inward, and welding these wing-like portions together under heat and pressure. In each wing-like portion 21, 22, a piece of sheet member is attached to at least one of the top- and backsheets 2, 3 so as to form an extension thereof and provide thereby the backsheet of said portion having a melting point higher than a melting point of the topside sheet member.

Abstract: Here is disclosed a disposable diaper having a front area, a crotch area, a back area and a pair of liquid permeable wing areas laterally extending from opposite sides of said back area so that said diaper may be worn by fastening said wing areas to each other, then placing said front area upon these wing areas and fastening said front area to said wing areas.
