Patent number: 10408281Abstract: A rotation transmission device is provided in which a collision sound by an armature and a rotor is less likely to occur, and further the armature is stably attracted to the rotor. A buffer is provided between the armature and the rotor. The buffer is constituted by a metal annulus axially movably supported by the armature, and a rubber annulus configured such that as the armature approaches the rotor, the rubber annulus is axially compressed by the metal annulus and the armature. The rubber annulus has different axial thicknesses at different circumferential locations thereof such that when the degree of axial compression of the rubber annulus is large, the rubber annulus is axially compressed in its longer circumferential area than when the degree of axial compression of the rubber annulus is small.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2015Date of Patent: September 10, 2019Assignee: NTN CORPORATIONInventors: Marina Fukunari, Takahide Saito, Koji Sato, Makoto Tokuda, Kyohei Sasanuma, Motohiro Tada, Naotsugu Kitayama

Patent number: 6446775Abstract: A one-way clutch is arranged so that a plurality of intermediate members, which are each retained in a cage, each wedge between inner and outer rings when the inner and outer rings relatively rotate in a locking direction and each rock opposite to the direction of the wedging when the inner and outer rings relatively rotate in an idling direction, are pressed in the direction of the wedging by spring members. In this one-way clutch, each spring member includes a pair of coil springs that are juxtaposed to align in an axial direction of the inner and outer rings, are retained at one ends thereof by the cage and resiliently contact at the other ends thereof with the intermediate member. The one ends of both the coil springs are connected together through a connecting portion. The coil springs and the connecting portion are formed of a single wire.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2001Date of Patent: September 10, 2002Assignee: Bando Chemical Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Shuichi Nagaya, Masakazu Domoto, Makoto Tokuda

Patent number: 5311963Abstract: An impact sensor is mounted to the front portion of a vehicle body so as to operate with a desired responsiveness. The impact sensor is located below a horizontal line passing through the upper end portion of a stiffener for a bumper of the vehicle and behind a vertical line passing through a front end portion of the stiffener. The stiffener is stiffer than a portion of the bumper which is located on a horizontal line passing through the stiffener. Crash energy is not transmitted to the impact sensor during a light crash and, as a result, the air bag is not inappropriately inflated during such a light crash.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 1992Date of Patent: May 17, 1994Assignee: Mazda Motor CorporationInventors: Tadayuki Shigeoka, Shinpei Egawa, Makoto Tokuda, Susumu Makimoto

Patent number: 5271473Abstract: A front body structure forms an engine compartment in front of which a flat heat exchanger, provided with a pair of cooling fan units projecting lengthwise and rearward therefrom and transversely arranged with a space therebetween, is positioned. The front body structure includes a front body frame structure, defining opposite side walls of the engine compartment, and a front end frame structure, defining a front end wall of the engine compartment, which includes an upper front cross member extending transversely between the side walls so as to form an upper front end of the engine compartment. Stay members extend downward from the upper front cross member and are arranged so that a space between adjacent stay members is formed for receiving a cooling fan unit. A lower front cross member, extending transversely of the car body between the opposite side walls, forms a lower front end of the engine compartment.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1992Date of Patent: December 21, 1993Assignee: Mazda Motor CorporationInventors: Yoshinori Ikeda, Susumu Makimoto, Tadayuki Shigeoka, Makoto Tokuda

Patent number: 5114184Abstract: An automobile rear body structure includes a pair of rear side frames extending in a direction longitudinally of a vehicle body and having respective kick-up portions, each of which extends diagonally upwardly and rearwardly to form a bridging portion in a rear wheel zone. A differential unit is disposed substantially between the kick-up portions and a fuel tank is disposed behind the differential unit. A pair of drive shafts for driving respective rear wheels extend transversely from the differential unit and are disposed substantially below the kick-up portions. A medial cross member is interposed between the differential unit and the fuel tank and extends transversely between the paired rear side frames. The cross member has opposite ends connected to the rear side frames at locations immediately behind the kick-up portions. The differential unit is secured to the cross member or a suspension cross member for carrying rear wheel suspension systems.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 1990Date of Patent: May 19, 1992Assignee: Mazda Motor CorporationInventors: Takeshi Shimomura, Katumi Sakane, Makoto Tokuda, Sinpei Egawa

Patent number: 4950031Abstract: An automobile rear underbody structure which comprises generally elongated side frames extending in a direction lengthwise of an automobile body structure and each having a front and rear frame portions. The rear frame portion of each side frame lies in a level offset upwardly relative to the front frame portion. The rear frame portion has a depressed zone defined at a predetermined position thereof to permit the rear frame portion to bend downwardly when an external impact greater than a predetermined value is applied thereto.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1988Date of Patent: August 21, 1990Assignee: Mazda Motor CorporationInventors: Sumiaki Mizunaga, Katsuaki Matsui, Hiroaki Kodama, Makoto Tokuda, Morikazu Sakamoto

Patent number: 4618181Abstract: An automobile roof panel structure including a central main roof panel and a pair of auxiliary roof panel assemblies attached to the opposite longitudinal side edges of the main roof panel. Each auxiliary roof panel assembly includes an outer panel and an inner panel which are welded together at connecting flanges thereof to form a structure of closed cross-section. The main roof panel has side edge portions which are laid on the connecting flanges of the auxiliary roof panel assemblies. The side edge portions of the main roof panel are formed with a plurality of longitudinally spaced upward projections separated by intermediate planar portions. The planar portions are laid directly on the connecting flange of the outer panel of the auxiliary roof panel. The connecting flanges on the outer and inner panels of the auxiliary roof panel assembly are first welded together by spot welding at portions corresponding to the projections in the side edge portions of the main roof panel.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1985Date of Patent: October 21, 1986Assignee: Mazda Motor CorporationInventors: Makoto Tokuda, Takami Kimoto

Patent number: 4043798Abstract: Herein disclosed is a process for the addition of calcium to a molten steel which achieves an excellent yield and effect. The process is applied to molten steels having a chemical composition of carbon 0.02 to 0.55%, Silicon less than 0.50%, Manganese 0.20 to 2.50%, sulfur less than 0.010%, total oxygen content less than 100 ppm, quantities of other standard alloying elements and the balance being iron, and being maintained at a temperature of 1480.degree. to 1800.degree. C. The process is conducted either by shooting projectiles which include calcium into the molten steel or by continuously feeding a wire of a calcium containing material into the molten steel in an amount of 0.1 to 2.0 kg per ton of molten steel calculated on the basis of pure calcium so that the calcium content of the resulting steel becomes 0.05 to 0.8 times the sulfur content. The resulting steel has excellent low temperature impact characteristics.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 1975Date of Patent: August 23, 1977Assignee: Sumitomo Metal Industries LimitedInventors: Hajime Nashiwa, Akiyoshi Mori, Makoto Tokuda
