  • Publication number: 20020167225
Abstract: An ignition system has a spark plug and a positive voltage applying unit. The spark plug includes a central electrode, a porcelain insulator for holding the central electrode, a main metallic shell for holding the porcelain insulator, and a ground electrode electrically connected to the main metallic shell. The positive voltage applying unit applies a positive voltage to the central electrode of the spark plug in comparison with the ground electrode, so that an ignition high voltage is applied between the central electrode and the ground electrode. In the spark plug, a spark discharge gap is formed between the ground electrode and a distal end portion of the central electrode. The ground electrode is positioned so that a rear edge of a mating face opposed to a peripheral side of the central electrode is positioned in the side of the distal end of the central electrode in comparison with an end face of the porcelain insulator.

  • Patent number: 6341693
Abstract: A storage case has a base half and a slide half, the slide half moveably attached to the base half. The slide half can move along in continuous contact with the base half. A lid is integrally formed with the slide half, and opens and closes an opening in the slide half for the insertion or removal of objects. When the slide half is slid along in continuous contact with the base half, protrusions on the lid move along in continuous contact with cam grooves on the base half to permit the lid to open and close. The storage case can store a memory card, and protect the card from being smudged, dirtied or damaged from impact.

  • Patent number: 6295064
Abstract: The perspective of a displayed video game image is moved in order to bring an attentional subject into a hypothetical focus frame, and the focus frame is moved back to a rear position on an extension opposite to the direction in which the attentional subject moves, for providing a wide area in front of the attentional subject in the direction in which it moves, and the attentional subject is brought into the moved focus frame. The rear position is a position in which a central reference point of the focus frame is located on a boundary line of the circular center movement range when the central reference point is moved opposite and parallel to the direction in which the attentional subject moves. The wide area provided in front of the attentional subject in the direction in which it moves, provides enough room for maneuver for the game player to take an action easily even when an opponent game character suddenly pops up in the displayed video game image.

  • Patent number: 6272091
Abstract: The present invention provides a recording medium device ejection structure which is useful to minimize the outside dimension of a recording medium device and to increase the mounting area of a printed circuit on an adapter to which the recording medium device is inserted. The recording medium device comprises a recording medium body and a case having a recess for accommodating the recording medium body, and is attached to the adapter detachably. The adapter is provided with a cover, the first lever provided on the cover, and the second lever which is in contact with the first lever at one end. The first lever gets in the recess provided on the recording medium device to resultantly push up the recording medium device, and the recording medium device is thereby ejected. A connector not shown in the drawing to which the recording medium device is inserted does not necessarily have a recording medium device ejection mechanism, and thus the product is made small-sized.

  • Patent number: 6225752
Abstract: A spark plug for an internal combustion engine is constituted by an insulating member (20) having an axial hole (26) formed along a central shaft (18); a rod-shape central electrode (12) accommodated in the axial hole; and a ground electrode (16) with which an igniting portion (16a) opposite to the outer surface (12a) of the central electrode is formed. In the spark plug, application of voltage between the central electrode and the ground electrode such that the polarity of the central electrode is made to be positive causes discharge to occur between the central electrode and the ground electrode. The spark plug satisfies at least one of the following conditions (a) and (b).

  • Patent number: 6208066
Abstract: In a semi-creeping discharge type spark plug, a cylindrical metal shell and an insulator are provided, the latter of which has an axial bore and placed within the metal shell so that a front end of the insulator extends beyond the metal shell. A center electrode is placed within the axial bore of the insulator so that a front end surface edge of the center electrode retracts by 0.1˜0.6 mm behind from a front end surface of the insulator. A ground electrode, one end of which is connected to a front end of the metal shell, and the other end of which is bent to oppose an outer surface of the insulator so as to form an air-gap therebetween while permitting creeping spark discharges running along said front end surface of said insulator. A foward edge portion of a front end surface of the ground electrode extends by 0.0˜1.0 mm forward from the front end surface of the insulator.

  • Patent number: 6132049
Abstract: A picture display apparatus and a cooling apparatus used for an optical apparatus for efficiently cooling sections to be cooled through the effective use of air currents supplied from a cooling fan, where in external wall and an internal wall of an air guide section guide rotating air currents generated by the cooling fan to intakes without reducing the air velocity by regulating and directing the air currents in accordance with the shape of the cooling fan and the direction of rotation of the fan. The air currents passing through the air guide section are taken through the intakes into an optical unit and sent to the sections to be cooled including a light valve and a polarizing plate for each color. The sections are thus cooled by the air currents.

  • Patent number: 6095124
Abstract: A spark plug having a center electrode, a ground electrode, and an insulator. The ground electrode has a firing surface formed in a tip end side, and the firing surface is opposed to a side face of the center electrode. The insulator covers the outside of the center electrode and is placed such that a tip end portion is between the side face of the center electrode and the firing surface of the ground electrode. A discharge high voltage is applied across the center electrode and the ground electrode such that a polarity of the center electrode is positive and that of the ground electrode is negative. The high voltage causes a spark discharge to be generated between the firing surface of the ground electrode and a tip end portion of the center electrode.

  • Patent number: 5990841
Abstract: An antenna that comprises a rod, a movable coil, and a holding section which holds the movable coil in a manner that allows the movable coil to slide in and out of the holding section. When the movable coil is drawn into the holding section, the holding section tunes to a particular desired frequencies in the upper portion of the VHF band and the UHF band; for example, 144 MHz and 430 MHz. When the movable coil is out of the holding section, the holding section, the rod, and the portion of the movable coil outside the holding section form antenna element of a center-loading type that tunes to frequencies in the HF band and the lower portion of the VHF band; for example, frequencies in the range of 3MHz to 50MHz. The tuning frequency is varied by sliding the position of the coil.

  • Patent number: 5762172
Abstract: A hydraulic power transmission unit includes a casing connected to an engine, a pump member fixed to the interior of the casing and a turbine mounted within the casing and connected to an output shaft, whereby the output torque of the engine is transmitted to the output shaft through fluid in the casing. A damper mechanism includes damper springs mounted directly on the inner face of the casing at its outer circumference. A damper disc serves to transmit the power of the engine to the output shaft through the damper springs. A lock-up clutch mechanism is also housed within the casing and includes a frictional engagement element arranged between the damper disc and the output shaft. The lock-up clutch mechanism is operated, i.e. frictional engagement element selectively applied and released, by a clutch piston slidably mounted within a cylinder defined by the damper disc.
