  • Publication number: 20250052333
Abstract: A thermal valve for a cooling fluid supply channel. The thermal valve comprises a body with a through channel to supply the cooling fluid through an inlet of the thermal valve in the direction of its outlet, and a fuse. The through channel is made in the form of an elbow and consists of a horizontal section and a downward-directed vertical section. The inlet is located in the lower part of the vertical section; the outlet of the through channel is provided with a plug made of high-strength refractory material and attached to a flange of the horizontal section with the fuse. The ratio of volumes of the horizontal and the vertical sections of the through channel is chosen so that a cooling fluid would neither enter the horizontal section of the through channel nor affect the melting point of the plug.

  • Patent number: 12198823
Abstract: The invention relates to a self-cleaning liquid purification system and is designed for the use in sump tank filters in nuclear power plants, as well as in any submersible filters used in any sectors of the economy. A self-cleaning liquid purification system comprises a filtration unit with filtering elements, a clean liquid discharge pipe, and an aerator. The aerator is designed as an intake device located on the liquid-gas boundary in a source of liquid to be purified, the aerator is capable of forming a liquid-gas mixture when it enters the intake device. The aerator is connected with a vertical downcomer to an accumulation chamber that is connected to the filtration unit by a hydraulic lock that is designed to be capable of pulse feed of liquid-gas mixture. The technical result is improved operation reliability of the liquid purification system through ensuring its capability of self-cleaning in the passive mode.

  • Publication number: 20230215589
Abstract: The invention relates to nuclear power engineering and is designed to improve the safety of nuclear power plants by providing the ability to retain the melt in the nuclear reactor vessel at different severity of accidents in both passive and active mode. In-vessel melt retention system containing a reactor located in a cavity, a coolant circulation pump outside the reactor vessel and a storage tank, characterized in that the storage tank is located in the cavity under the reactor vessel head; there are additional sump tanks above the reactor vessel head to collect coolant in LOCAs, the storage tank is connected to the top of the sump tanks by coolant supply channels. The in-vessel melt retention system can be applied in nuclear power plants of various types, and can increase their safety by providing melt retention in the reactor vessel in various types of accidents.

  • Patent number: 11101049
Abstract: Nuclear power plant (NPP) containment building separation system dividing the NPP containment building into isolated containment building rooms. The system includes containment building separation shutters located in the circular gap which divides the containment building rooms and the containment building walls; an air supply unit connected to a manifold ring which, in turn, is connected to the air-inflated shutters designed to ensure insulation of the airspace inside the containment building rooms when inflated and to connect the airspace when deflated. In emergency mode the air supply to the air-inflated shutters is terminated, and the shutters get deflated and fully open the circular gap which ensures convection process throughout the whole area of containment building.
