  • Patent number: 9504242
Abstract: An apparatus suitable for controlling vegetation which apparatus comprises a hot-liquid reservoir (28), release means (38) connected to the hot-liquid reservoir (28) and at least one nozzle (74), for applying a stream of foam that contains steam, connected to the reservoir through the release means. The apparatus includes a heating means (34) to keep the liquid hot so the pressure is above atmospheric pressure. The liquid may be pumped by a pump (36) through the hot-water reservoir (28), the water being heated on demand by heaters (34) within the reservoir (28). The apparatus is either propelled by or mounted on a vehicle; and during use of the apparatus to control vegetation the vehicle provides power (24) to the heating means.

  • Publication number: 20160009581
Abstract: A water treatment facility for treating raw water and delivering the treated water to a plumbing network. The flow rate is measured by a flow meter. The raw water is passed through a pre-filter and is then temporarily stored in a first tank. The water level in the first tank is kept within a desired maximum and minimum level. The water from the first tank is delivered to a plurality of filter modifies. The plurality of filter modules are arranged so that the flow can be configured to flow through all the filter modules simultaneously, or any one or more filter modules exclusively. The flow path through the filter module(s) can be arranged to flow either sequentially or in parallel. A disinfectant system is included that is capable of producing and delivering a disinfectant agent into the outflow on an as needed basis.

  • Patent number: 8481868
Abstract: A junction box for electrically connecting insulated conductors of a first cable to corresponding insulated conductors of a second cable, including a terminal housing; a plurality of electrically conductive contacts extending through the terminal housing, each contact of said contacts including first and second insulation displacement contacts (IDCs) opening into respective first and second sides of the terminal housing; and first and second lid members operatively coupled to the terminal housing so that relative movement between the terminal housing and the lid members urges insulated conductors interposed therebetween into corresponding IDCs for electric connection to the contacts, wherein said relative movement electrically connects the insulated conductors of the first cable on the first side of said sides of the terminal housing to corresponding insulated conductors of the second cable on the second side of said sides of the terminal housing via the IDCs of common contacts.

  • Patent number: 8472022
Abstract: A system and method for spectroscopic detection of loss in a resonator cavity is disclosed. The system can include a number of components. A tunable laser source can generate a laser beam. A frequency locking system can lock the frequency of the laser beam to a resonance of the resonator cavity or lock the length of the cavity to the frequency of the laser beam. The first modulation element can modulate the laser beam at a first modulation frequency to generate a modulated laser beam. The input coupler can direct the modulated laser beam into the resonator cavity. The first directing element can direct a first portion of light reflected from the input coupler to a first photodetector. The first demodulator can demodulate the first modulation signal to generate a first error signal which is a function of the loss in the resonator cavity.
