  • Patent number: 11347558
Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products for computer cluster management. Multiple components are operatively interconnected to carry out operations for placing virtual machines onto a multi-tenant computing cluster, where the placement achieves adherence to a set of security requirements. Initially, data characterizing logical CPU resources of the multi-tenant computing cluster are gathered. Upon receipt of a request to place a virtual machine onto a node of the multi-tenant computing cluster, a set of security rules that are used to achieve the set of security requirements associated with the multi-tenant computing cluster are accessed. In accordance with the security rules the virtual machine is assigned to execute in a portion of the logical CPU resources. The virtual machine does not share logical CPU resources with any other tenant.

  • Patent number: 7909051
Abstract: According to the present invention, there is provided a cover (11) for an outdoor clothes airer (10) having at least three radially-extending arms (2) supporting an array of clothes lines (7), the cover comprising a sheet (3) of waterproof material which is resistant to ultra-violet rays and dimensioned to extend radially beyond the ends of said radial arms above the clothes lines, arranged to drain outwards, and provided with a central supporting means (16) and a peripheral tensioning means (5) such as a drawstring or plurality thereof for securing the sheet to the airer and a circumferential skirt (6) of an air permeable netting material finished with a weighted hem (9). Access to the laundry contained within the invention is easily achieved by lifting a side or sides of the circumferential skirt and laying it or them on top of the cover sheet, after which the laundry may be laced within the skirt of removed therefrom and the skirt may be let down again.

  • Publication number: 20080053321
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an improvement to the current method of printing test sensors using a continuous web of substrate material. The improved method includes incorporating a means of retaining the high water content of the enzyme print material by maintaining relative humidity levels around the enzyme print station. More particularly, the method according to the present invention involves a method wherein said air in said laminar flow has a relative humidity of approximately 91%.

  • Publication number: 20070131613
Abstract: A method of treating water which comprises, forming a mixture of a particulate natural organic substrate with a flow control component, exposing the water to contact with oxygen containing gas over a large surface area, and causing the water to trickle through a column of the mixture, wherein the particulate natural organic substrate is adapted to support growth of aerobic bacteria and the flow control component is adapted to create a plurality of sinuous pathways for the water trickling through the column.

  • Patent number: 5987316
Abstract: The network security of a radio local loop system is highly desirable to avoid fraudulent use of the network by unauthorised users with appropriate subscriber equipment. For fixed subscribers, the propagation delay between base station and subscriber unit will also remain fixed and, provided this is measured with sufficient accuracy, the distance from the subscriber to the base station can be determined. This can be used as an aid to the authentication of a subscriber. Other signal characteristics which are indicative of the physical location of a purported subscriber can be used, such as directional information. In a system in which propagation delay has to be monitored anyway, for other purposes, such as orthogonal CDMA code synchronisation, or for a TDM system, added security can be obtained without great extra cost.

  • Patent number: 5802177
Abstract: Apparatus for a radio local loop for a telecommunications system, such as a base station (1) or a subscriber station (2), comprises a first unit (4, 13), which includes call processing and speech transcoding/encryption apparatus (8, 17), and which can be housed in a friendly environment, such as within a telephone exchange or within a subscriber's premises, and a comparatively rugged second unit (3, 14) which includes a modem (11, 22) and radio transceiver (12, 23), and which can be housed, in the case of a base station, at a site remote from the exchange, but central for the subscribers which it is to serve, and in the case of a subscriber station on the outside of the subscriber's premises. The first and second units are linked by a base-band link (5, 15).
