  • Patent number: 9334592
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the production of a hydroentangled product comprising cellulose fibers, wherein a Lyocell melt-blown web is subjected to a treatment by fine high-pressure jets of water, characterized in that the web is subjected to said fine high-pressure jets in at least three treatment steps the pressure of said high-pressure jets is 75 bar or less in each of said treatment steps. Furthermore, the invention relates to products obtainable by said products, and uses thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 10, 2008
Date of Patent: May 10, 2016
    Assignee: Lenzing Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Pat White, Haio Harms, Malcolm Hayhurst
  • Patent number: 8282877
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the production of a hydroentangled product comprising cellulose fibers, which includes the steps of (a) extruding a solution comprising cellulose dissolved in an aqueous tertiary amine-oxide through a spinneret into an air gap, thereby forming filaments (b) drawing said filaments by means of a gaseous stream (c) collecting and precipitating said filaments in order to form a web (d) bonding said web by means of a hydroentanglement process (e) contacting said filaments in the air gap with a medium which at least partially coagulates the filaments. Furthermore, the invention relates to products obtainable by said products, and uses thereof.
    Type: Grant

  • Publication number: 20070243380
Abstract: Anti-microbial lyocell fibres incorporate an anti-microbial composition which comprises a silver compound deposited on a support material in the form of porous particles having an extended surface area and comprising an oxidic material which is essentially insoluble in water and incapable of forming hydrates. A preferred composition is silver chloride on titanium dioxide particles. The anti-microbial effect is durable to processing and the fibres are not adversely discoloured. Low concentrations of the anti-microbial composition of below 0.1 percent by weight on weight of cellulose may be used. In the process of making the fibres, the anti-microbial composition preferably is added to the pasty pre-mix of the spinning solution.
