Disclosed devices include a flexible catheter body having a distal end and a proximal end, a peltier element, a contact element located at or near the distal end of the catheter body that can be heated or cooled by applying a voltage to the peltier element, and a contact sensor for detecting contact between a contact surface of said contact element and tissue to be tested.
