  • Patent number: 6810194
Abstract: An assembly for use in connecting optical fibers includes a housing (12) for optical fiber joints and a fiber routing device (70) associated with the housing. The housing has a first inlet (41) for receiving optical fibers from a primary side of an optical fiber network and a second inlet (13) for receiving optical fibers from a customer side of an optical fiber network. The fiber routing device (70) has an outlet (78) for feeding fibers from the customer side of the optical fiber network into the second inlet (13) and two inlets (72, 74) for receiving the customer-side optical fibers for feeding to its outlet.

  • Patent number: 6764220
Abstract: The present invention provides an assembly for use in connecting optical fibers. The assembly may comprise a plurality of housings for housing connections between optical fibers and a guide arrangement for guiding optical fibres into the housings. The guide arrangement may comprise a plurality of guide devices each having one inlet port for the passage of optical fibres into the guide arrangement and one outlet port for guiding optical fibers into the housing. The guide arrangement may also include one further inlet port for receiving optical fibres from another guide device and one further outlet port for guiding optical fibres to another guide device.

Abstract: The present invention provides an assembly 10 for use in connecting optical fibres, the assembly comprising a plurality of housings 12 for housing connections between optical fibres and a guide arrangement for guiding optical fibres into said housings 12. The guide arrangement comprises a plurality of guide devices 14 mounted side-by-side, each guide device 14 having at least one inlet port 22 for the passage of optical fibres into the guide arrangement, at least one outlet port 26 associated with a said housing 12 for guiding optical fibres into the associated housing 12. Each guide device 14 also comprises at least one further inlet port 28 for receiving optical fibres from another one of the guide devices when positioned adjacent the guide device 14 on one side thereof and at least one further outlet port 30 for guiding optical fibres to another one of the guide devices when positioned adjacent the guide device on another side thereof. The guide arrangement comprises at least two guide devices 14.

  • Patent number: 5727106
Abstract: An installation 10 comprising a line 12 extending between and suspended from a plurality of spaced apart aerial suspension locations 14 defines a passage for an optical fiber unit. The line comprises a plurality of elongate tensile resistant tubes 18 connected end-to-end by respective connectors 20. The line is secured to each suspension location by respective securing means 22 which are secured to said line at two spaced apart locations 28, 30 thereon such that the portion 26 of said line between these locations is untensioned and includes a connector 20. The securing means 22 is adapted to allow tensioning of the portion 26 of said line when the tensile load on the line adjacent thereto on either side of said suspension location reaches a first predetermined amount, and the connector 20 is adapted to cause the end-to-end connection of the tensile resistant tubes 18 connected thereby to break when the tensile load on said portion reaches a second predetermined amount.
