  • Patent number: 9183287
Abstract: An information processing apparatus (5) is provided including: a lexicon generation module (22) operable to identify strings of characters present in a set of social media posts (50); a network data generation module (24) operable to generate network data in which posts are associated with nodes and link data (53) link nodes corresponding to posts which contain similar sets of strings of characters; and a network analysis module (26) operable to process network data generated by the network data generation module (24) to determine one or more metric values for each of the nodes wherein the metric values are determined based on the patterns of connectivity defined by the link data (53). The generated metric values are then utilized to select one or more posts (55) as posts representative of the set of media posts.

  • Patent number: 9002658
Abstract: A computer system (2) is provided which is arranged to receive network data (1) identifying nodes and links between nodes. The computer system (2) processes the input network data (1) to utilise the network topology to identify nodes and links having high importance for network integrity. A report (4) identify the critical components can then be output.

  • Patent number: 8862586
Abstract: An information processing apparatus (5) is provided comprising: a lexicon generation module (22) operable to process a set of documents (1) to identify key words (2) present in the documents; a link generation module (24) operable to generate network data (3) linking documents which share the same or semantically related key words identified by the lexicon generation module; and a network analysis module (26) operable to associate documents with metric values based upon the patterns of connectivity of the network data generated by the link generation module. The metric values associated with documents in the set can be utilized to select documents or groups of associated documents for further processing or indexing.

  • Patent number: 8125922
Abstract: After a sample set of web pages (7) has been retrieved via the Internet (4) and stored in a web page data base (11) the web pages (7) are processed by a network analysis engine (15) to generate network data indicative of the interconnections between the sample web pages (7) as identified by hyperlinks included in the retrieved web pages (7). The network analysis engine (15) then utilizes the generated network data to calculate for each web page (7) a number of network metrics indicative of the extent to which the interconnections associated with a web page (7) correspond to patterns of interconnections associated with web pages (7) published in order to manipulate the ranking of a web page (7) by a search engine (3). These network metrics are then used to generate a numbers of ranked indexes of web pages (7). A user can then submit a search query to the search engine (3) together with an indication of which of the rankings should be used.
