  • Patent number: 10940918
Abstract: A watercraft is provided with fin on its transom. The fin extends outwardly from a portion of the transom that extends into the water. The fin includes a first portion and a second portion positioned rearwardly of the first portion. The second portion is inclined downwardly and rearwardly relative to the first portion and positioned so as to provide lift and to channel water toward the propeller. The watercraft may be a pontoon boat having first and second laterally-spaced pontoons located under the deck on opposite sides of the transom. Additional fins may be mounted on the first and second laterally-spaced pontoons.

  • Patent number: 10486772
Abstract: A pontoon for providing buoyant force to a floating craft comprises a barrel having front and rear ends and a fin extending outwardly from an outer surface of the barrel. The fin includes a first portion and a second portion positioned rearwardly of the first portion. The first portion extends at least generally parallel with or coincident with a lateral, horizontally extending centerline of the barrel. In order to enhance stability, improve handling, and/or inhibit motor cavitation, the second portion is inclined downwardly and rearwardly relative to the rear end of the first portion. Also disclosed is a pontoon boat fitted with fins on the pontoons and/or on the transom.

  • Patent number: 5911187
Abstract: A pontoon boat having a deck disposed over distal, watertight pontoons. Each pontoon comprises an elongated, generally cylindrical shell having a bow end consisting of an eccentric conical section extending upward at an angle out of the water. Splash rails, comprising fins protruding from the pontoon's shell, are disposed along the pontoon's inner and outer surfaces so that they extend substantially from the pontoon's bow end to its stern end. Each pontoon may also includes a splash guard comprising a second, larger fin mounted to the inner surface of the pontoon's shell near the its bow end. The deck of the pontoon boat includes a motor transom for mounting an outboard motor.
