  • Publication number: 20210212145
Abstract: A wireless device (14) transmits, to a radio network node (12), a radio resource control (RRC) connection request (18) that requests the establishment, re-establishment, or resumption of an RRC connection (16). The RRC connection request (18) indicates a type of core network to which the wireless device (14)selects to connect. The wireless device (14) in some embodiments receives a response to the RRC connection request (18), based on the type of core network to which the wireless device (14) selects to connect. For example, the wireless device (14) may receive the response using a protocol stack determined based on the type of core network to which the wireless device (14) selects to connect.

  • Publication number: 20210185717
Abstract: A scheduling node transmits, to a radio node configured for sub-subframe operation, a semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) configuration message configuring the radio node for sub-subframe-based SPS. The SPS configuration message comprises an identifier of the radio node and indicates a pattern of sub-subframes in which a resource allocation for the radio node repeats. The radio node receives the SPS configuration message and configures the radio node for sub-subframe-based SPS according to the SPS configuration message.

  • Publication number: 20210153022
Abstract: A network node is configured for use in a wireless communication network. The network node is configured to acquire radio access capability information of a wireless device. The radio access capability information of the wireless device indicates radio access capabilities of the wireless device. The network node is configured to determine if the wireless communication network received the radio access capability information of the wireless device before access stratum security was activated for the wireless device. If the wireless communication network received the radio access capability information of the wireless device before access stratum security was activated for the wireless device according to that determination, the network node is configured to re-acquire the radio access capability information of the wireless device after access stratum security is activated for the wireless device.

  • Patent number: 10993199
Abstract: A method by a UE is provided to handle communication in a network, wherein the UE is capable of receiving a registration area configuration including area identifiers associated with different cells of different RATs. The UE receives, from a network node, a first mobile identifier and a second mobile identifier in a message during a transition of states of the UE, wherein the first mobile identifier is of a first length and the second mobile identifier is of a second length different than the first length. Furthermore, the UE uses the first mobile identifier to resume to a first network node of a first RAT in the registration area configuration of the UE, and the second mobile identifier to resume to a second network node of a second RAT in the registration area configuration of the UE.

  • Publication number: 20210044964
Abstract: According to an embodiment, a method performed by a wireless device includes transmitting, to a network node, a message requesting a grant of resources for transmitting a first message and, in response, receiving a grant message granting the resources. The method further includes determining, based at least in part on the grant message, whether a length of a temporary device identifier of the wireless device exceeds a limit that the network node is capable of receiving in the first message. When the temporary device identifier does not exceed the limit, the method includes transmitting the temporary device identifier to the network node in the first message. When the temporary device identifier exceeds the limit, the method includes transmitting a first portion of the temporary device identifier in the first message and transmitting a second portion of the temporary identifier in a second message to the network node.

  • Publication number: 20210045180
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus for handling communications relating to suspending a user equipment in a radio access network (RAN) are disclosed. An example method includes receiving, by a user equipment that is operating in a connected state, a radio resource control (RRC) release message. The user equipment determines, based on an indication in the RRC release message, whether to suspend the user equipment to an inactive state or an idle state, the indication comprising a presence or absence a suspend configuration field in the RRC release message. Responsive to determining that the indication is to suspend to an inactive state, the user equipment transitions to the inactive state.

  • Patent number: 10805785
Abstract: Methods, a core network node (104A) and a node (102A) in a radio access network, RAN, (102), for enabling emergency services for wireless devices in the RAN. The core network node (104A) sends (2:1), to the RAN node (102A), information about one or more Access and Mobility Management Functions, AMFs, that support emergency services, to avoid an emergency fallback procedure for wireless devices in the RAN. The RAN node (102A) then selects (2:2) an AMF (104B) that supports emergency services for a wireless device (100) in the RAN, based on the received information. Thereby, the wireless device will have immediate access to emergency services and no delaying emergency fallback procedure is performed which could be critical in an emergency situation.
