Abstract: A non-sulfate shampoo is disclosed. The shampoo incorporates at least one non-sulfate surfactant selected from a taurate salt and a sarcosinate salt, and in addition incorporates a complexation compound. The shampoo produces a coacervate upon dilution with water and in use to shampoo hair. The shampoo provides mild non-irritating treatment of the hair and does not irritate skin or eyes.

A method for styling hair fibers, preferably human hair fibers, comprises the following steps: providing a hair styling composition comprising, in a cosmetically acceptable carrier, a film-forming polymer; applying the hair styling composition to the hair fibers; heating the hair fibers comprising the hair styling composition at a temperature from 80 C to 230 C; setting the hair fibers in a hair style without subsequent rinsing; and cooling to room temperature.
