Abstract: A method of printing a color image of an image file onto a substrate using a digital printer may involve, at a first point in time: a) printing a plurality of color samples in a number of different colors on a substrate; and b) generating a first characteristic curve for each color, and storing the first characteristic curves in a primary file. The method may involve, at a second point in time: c) repeating the printing of a) using the same colors and the same type of substrate; d) generating a new characteristic curve for each color, and storing the new characteristic curves in a secondary file; e) adapting the image file using the secondary file, or e?) adapting the printer's settings using the secondary file.

Abstract: A method for formulating an ink for a gravure printing press may involve digitally printing of a decor and a patch onto a substrate. The patch may include at least one color reference area. The color reference area may include at least one digital ink. The patch may be located on a part of the substrate that is substantially free of the décor. A color of the at least one color reference area may be measured. A tone of an ink for gravure printing may be adjusted to match the color of the at least one color reference area.

Abstract: A printed substrate may include a substrate that may be a paper or a thermoplastic foil. At least one digitally printed decor and at least one patch may be provided on the substrate. The at least one patch may include at least one color reference area having at least one digital ink. The patch may be located on a part of the substrate that is substantially free of the at least one printed decor.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a decorative substrate for decorative panels may involve providing a master image. The master image may be printed on a first printable substrate using an inkjet printer, thereby obtaining a first decorative substrate. A printing defect may be evaluated in the first decorative substrate. An error correction operation may be performed on the master image on the basis of the evaluation. A corrected master image may be printed on a second printable substrate to obtain a second decorative substrate. The error correction operation may involve adding an intentional defect to the corrected master image.

Abstract: A method is provided for manufacturing paper printable with an inkjet printer and/or analog printing, preferably gravure printing for use as a decor paper in a laminate panel. The method may involve providing a paper layer and coating at least one side of the paper layer with an ink receiver coating. The method may also involve providing the paper layer with an ink adhesion promoter.
