  • Patent number: 10008716
Abstract: A multilayer electrode suitable for use in a secondary battery is disclosed. The major active component of one layer is different to a major active component of an adjacent layer. The use of layered electrodes improves both the capacity retention and cycle life of batteries including such layered electrodes.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 31, 2013
Date of Patent: June 26, 2018
    Assignee: Nexeon Limited
Inventors: Mamdouh Abdelsalam, Fazil Coowar, William Macklin
  • Patent number: 9233342
Abstract: The invention provides an organic-inorganic porous membrane which includes metal organic silica nano-particles impregnated in a polymer. The polymer includes a property of generating porous membrane using a phase inversion technique. The invention also provides a method for preparing the organic-inorganic porous membrane.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 13, 2013
Date of Patent: January 12, 2016
Assignee: King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST)
Inventors: Nezar Hassan Mohamed Khdary, Mamdouh Abdelsalam

  • Patent number: 8025963
Abstract: A nanoporous filter comprises a porous support having an essentially flat surface on which is deposited a nanoporous layer having a substantially regular pore structure and uniform pore size within the range from 1 to 50 nm.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 4, 2006
Date of Patent: September 27, 2011
    Assignee: Nanotecture Ltd

  • Publication number: 20100067000
Abstract: It has been discovered that specially structured metallic films containing voids can deliver a hugely enhanced surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) effect. By selecting a particular size and geometry for the voids, metallic films can be provided which have an enhanced photon-to-plasmon conversion efficiency for incident radiation of a predetermined wavelength. Controllable surface-enhanced absorption and emission characteristics may thus be provided, which are useful for SERS and potentially also other optical spectrometry and filtering applications. With such a large Raman signal, the invention enables fast, compact and inexpensive Raman spectrometers to be provided opening up many new application possibilities.
