Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a fiber optic connector including a connector body having a front end and a rear end. A shutter is mounted at the front end of the connector body. The shutter is moveable relative to the connector body between an open position and a closed position. The fiber optic connector includes an optical fiber having an end face that is accessible at the front end of the connector body when the shutter is in the open position. The fiber optic connector also includes a cleaning material provided at an inner side of the shutter that covers the end face of the optical fiber when the shutter is in the closed position.

The splice can be between two fibers, one of which is a connectorized stub. The fibers can be arranged in parallel or in optical alignment with a reflective device.
