  • Patent number: 6707182
Abstract: An electric power steering apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus features a first shaft and a second shaft connected by an elastic member. A first detecting member is coupled to the second shaft, and made of magnetic material with a plurality of radial notched portions defining a number of slots. A pair of second detecting members are coupled to the first shaft and positioned on both sides of the first detecting member, and made of conductive and non-magnetic material with a plurality of radial notched portions defining a like number of slots. A pair of detecting coils are axially positioned on both sides of a set of the first and second detecting members. A housing accommodates the first and second detecting members, the detecting coils, and holds yokes in a fixed position. The largest outer diameter of the first shaft is smaller than each of the inner diameters of the first detecting member, the second detecting member and the yokes, thereby improving the assembling of the electric power steering apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5859379
Abstract: An apparatus for composing a melody by switching musical phrases sequentially corresponding to key input signals, and playing the switched musical phrases smoothly. The apparatus selects musical phrase data, which consists of note data and phrase change information data from a memory corresponding to the key input signals, then reads selected phrase data and plays a musical phrase corresponding to the phrase data. If a key input signal is detected during the playing of a musical phrase, the apparatus selects phrase data corresponding to the signal at the timing that the latest phrase change information data is read after the detection. The note data has a predetermined scale note value and read timing. The phrase change information data has a predetermined read timing. The scale note value and the read timing are predetermined so that a melody becomes in rhythm and in tune when musical phrases are sequentially played according to the note data that are included in selected phrase data.

  • Patent number: 4737231
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a device for sealing portions of an overlapped pair of single or composite films by contacting or facing an appropriately heated sealing surface of a heat sealing member. The heat sealing member is provided with the sealing surface in a part of its outer surface and with a sealed chamber therewithin in the vicinity of the sealing surface. The sealed chamber contains under decompression working liquid for evaporating and generating high-temperature condensable gas by being heated. The heat sealing member further has a heat source in the interior or the exterior thereof adjacent to at least a part of the sealed chamber for heating the working liquid.

  • Patent number: 4436318
Abstract: A vehicle level detector has a pair of switching elements respectively secured to a vehicle body and a suspension member for displacement with respect to one another corresponding to the displacement of the vehicle body and the suspension member. The switching elements are arranged to detect relative distance between the vehicle body and the suspension member and to produce signals when the detected distance is smaller or greater than predetermined minimum or maximum values. A fail-safe mechanism is provided to urge one of the switching elements to a position normally placing the switching element in relation to the other switching element such that the relative distance between the vehicle body and the suspension member is maintained within a range between the minimum and maximum predetermined values.

  • Patent number: 4290044
Abstract: A vehicle level detector detects a change in the elevation of a vehicle body as reflected in a change in the relative distance between a suspension member for wheels of the vehicle and the vehicle body. The detector comprises a magnet and a magnetoelectric transducer element disposed in opposing relationship. One of the magnet and the transducer element is disposed for displacement relative to the other in accordance with a varying elevation of the vehicle body, thus permitting a change in the elevation of the vehicle body to be detected by sensing the displacement.

  • Patent number: 4288968
Abstract: A heat sealing device in a packaging apparatus utilizing a plastic film for continuously seal both ends of a plurality of cylindrical bags made from the plastic film. The device comprises a pair of heat sealing members provided separatably and oppositely against each end portion of each cylindrical bag which is to be sealed transversely across the film. Each heat sealing member has a heat sealing surface which is to be pressed against the film and at least a pair of sealed chambers inside the heat sealing surface containing working liquid as a heat medium. A heat source is provided to heat at least a portion of the sealed chamber so that the working liquid generates vaporized gas by the heat. The sealed chamber is controlled to be kept at a pressure and a temperature so that the vaporized gas is condensed substantially at a temperature under which the film is sealed.

  • Patent number: 4288967
Abstract: A heat sealing device in a packaging apparatus utilizing a plastic film for continuously seal an overlapped axial portion of the plastic film. The device comprises a pair of heating rollers which are rotatably and oppositely placed to hold the overlapped portion of the film between them. Each of the heating rollers has a heating surface in its outer periphery which is pressed against the film and a coaxial and annular sealed chamber which is formed inside the heating surface and contains working liquid as a heat medium. A heat source is provided to be opposite at least to a portion of the sealed chamber to heat the working liquid. The working liquid generates vaporized gas upon heating by the heat source, and the pressure and the temperature in the sealed chamber are maintained at a predetermined degree so that the vaporized gas is condensed substantially at the temperature for fusing the film.
