  • Patent number: 7018576
Abstract: A resin part of a vehicular lamp and a method for producing such a part in which a metallic vapor deposition coating for forming a reflective surface is formed directly on a surface of a resin body part without applying an undercoating layer. The body of the resin part is produced by injecting molten resin into a cavity of a molding die in which a heat insulating layer is formed on a portion of the cavity surface corresponding to the reflective surface. A metallic vapor deposition coating is applied directly to the portions of the body of the resin part which were in contact with the heat insulating layer during injection molding.

Abstract: To provide a method and an apparatus that can execute simultaneous injection molding of a plurality of different resin components using a mold construction that makes possible simultaneous main-sub component molding, without having to make the mold and device larger. A simultaneous main-sub component molding method utilizes a mold device having a first cavity C1 for molding a first resin component and a second cavity C2 for molding a second resin component. The mold cavities C1 and C2 are provided in a pair of opposed mold halves 100, 200 which close for the molding operation and open to remove the molded parts. In this mold device, injection molding of a plurality of different types of resin components 20, 23 is simultaneous. The first resin component is configured from a large resin component that is substantially circular, U-shaped, or L-shaped. The second resin component is configured from a small resin component that can be positioned inside an open portion of the first resin component.

  • Publication number: 20030006514
Abstract: A molding method and a molding die for producing a lens of a vehicular lamp wherein the lens has an improved appearance in that no weld lines are formed on the surface of the lens and the lens consequently has an improved mechanical strength. The molding die has a gathering area for molten resin in the molding cavity in a flow region of the molten resin to be formed into a lens. A heat insulating layer is formed on a cavity face on the side of the lens surface at the gathering area for the molten resin in the molding die, as a result of which instantaneous cooling is prevented. Accordingly, a skin layer formed on the side of the lens surface at the gathering area is very thin, thereby preventing the generation of a weld line, which could otherwise be generated if thick skin layers produced when high-temperature molten resin directly comes into contact with steel material and cooled instantaneously are gathered together.

  • Patent number: 6412460
Abstract: A valve operating system in an internal combustion engine includes a cam shaft provided with a valve operating cam, a rocker arm having a pair of support wall portions which are integrally connected at their base ends to a swinging support portion swingably supported on a support member mounted on a cylinder head and which are opposed to each other at a distance in a direction along the swinging axis of the swinging support portion, a support shaft supported between the support wall portions, and a roller which is rotatably supported on the support shaft with a bearing interposed therebetween so as to be in rolling contact with the valve operating cam. A lower connecting wall interconnecting lower portions of the base ends of the support wall portions is projectingly provided on the swinging support portion in a manner opposed to an outer peripheral surface of a lower portion of the roller. Thus, it is possible to increase the rigidity of the rocker arm, while avoiding an increase in size of the rocker arm.
