  • Patent number: 5634363
Abstract: In a bending type mechanical descaling method, streak-like scales remain, which cause a die seizure in the subsequent drawing process. In the present invention, there is provided a quite new mechanical descaling technique capable of eliminating such streak-like scales. The new mechanical descaling method includes the step of passing a metal wire through a torsion generating portion for forcibly turning the metal wire around the axial center thereof while running the metal wire, thereby removing scales due to a difference in toughness between the metal wire and scales.

  • Patent number: 5575866
Abstract: Disclosed are a steel wire rod for manufacturing a fine steel wire excellent in drawability, strength and toughness in which the contents of components such as C, Si, Mn, P, S, Al, Cu are specified, the contents of one or more of elements selected from a group consisting of Cr, W, Ni and Mo are also specified, and in which the balance is essentially Fe and inevitable impurities and for which, the composition of non-metallic inclusions of oxides is also specified; a fine steel wire obtained by drawing of the steel wire rod; and a twisted wire cord made by twisting of the fine steel wires. Further, disclosed is a die schedule for manufacturing the above fine steel wire. Thus, there can be provided a steel wire rod with excellent drawability and which does not break during drawing; a fine steel wire excellent in strength and toughness obtained from the steel wire rod; and a twisted wire cord obtained by twisting together lengths of the fine steel wires.

  • Patent number: 4960649
Abstract: A concrete reinforcing metal fiber capable of being easily and uniformly dispersed in concrete. The metal fiber integrally includes a longitudinal strength body which bears tensile force that works thereon, and two rows of intermittent fins extending on the opposite sides of the strength body. The flatness ratio, namely, the ratio of the maximum width of the metal fiber to the maximum thickness of the same, of the metal fiber is in the range of 2.5 to 6.

  • Patent number: 4800744
Abstract: A tapered rod producing process by which a tapered rod having a profile very near to an aimed profile can be produced with high accuracy. According to the process, during working of a wire diameter gradually decreasing portion of a tapered rod in which the diameter of a stock gradually decreases in a feeding direction of the stock, the drawing length of the stock from starting to ending of acceleration of variable speed feeding mechanism is made greater than predetermined length of the wire diameter gradually decreasing portion, and during working of a wire diameter gradually increasing portion in which the diameter of the stock gradually increases, the drawing length of the stock from starting to completion of deceleration of the variable speed feeding mechanism is made smaller than an a desired length of the wire diameter gradually increasing portion of the tapered rod.

  • Patent number: 4801106
Abstract: A coil of tapered wire for forming coil springs, formed by winding substantially in concentric loops a quench-hardened and tempered tapered wire having a successive arrangement of tapered wire segments each consisting of a thick section, two thin sections and two tapered sections connecting the thin sections to the opposite ends of the thick section, respectively. The tapered wire is subjected to a preforming action immediately before being wound in loops on a winding drum, to form plastic bends in the thick sections and plastic bends of a radius of curvature greater than that of the plastic bends in the thick sections so that the tapered wire is wound in substantially uniform, concentric circular loops on a winding drum.
