  • Patent number: 5882680
Abstract: There are provided a seamless capsule containing therein a large quantity of an active ingredient which is difficultly soluble in water and oil and a method of manufacturing the seamless capsule. Encapsulating liquid 1, in which the active ingredient is difficultly soluble in water and oil is suspended in oil as particles each having the mean particle diameter of less than 20 .mu.m, is enclosed in hydrophilic outer shells. This seamless capsule SC is manufactured in such a manner that from a multiple nozzle 7, suspension, in which the active ingredient which is difficultly soluble in water and oil is dispersed in oil and the active ingredient in thus obtained dispersion is pulverized to obtain particles each having the mean particle diameter of less than 20 .mu.m, as encapsulating liquid 1, and aqueous liquid of a shell forming substance, as outer shell forming liquid 3, are dropped into hardening liquid 10.

  • Patent number: 5507868
Abstract: An apparatus for applying a coating to a powdery or granular material has a rotary drum 20 including a tubular portion 21 formed with air holes 27 and hollow shaft portions 23 and 24 provided at opposite end portions in the axial direction. A coating chamber 26 is defined inside the rotary drum 20. Liquid is sprayed from a nozzle 32 onto an accumulated layer 33 of a powdery or granular material in the coating chamber 26. Drying gas supplied from an air supply duct 45 is introduced into the rotary drum 20 from one of the two hollow shaft portions 23 and 24. A plurality of axially extending air ducts 34 are provided on the outer periphery of the rotary drum 20. When an air duct is positioned downwardly it is communicated with an air exhaust duct 41 through a distributor 35. Air introduced from the air supply duct 45 is biased toward the accumulated layer 33 by louvers 48.

  • Patent number: 5489335
Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for sugar coating, the apparatus comprising: a rotatable vessel for containing a material to be coated; a baffle 9 movable independently of the rotatable vessel; a baffle mounting shaft 10 having a bent construction, for mounting the baffle 9 thereon; and a hydraulic cylinder for rocking the baffle mounting shaft 10 to displace the baffle 9. Load cells 17a and 17b for detecting the position of the baffle 9 relative to an accumulated layer M of a material to be coated are provided on the baffle 9. The load cells 17a and 17b serves for holding the position of the baffle 9 relative to the accumulated layer M of the material to be coated at all times, on the basis of a load imposed due to the presence of the contact with the material to be coated.
