  • Patent number: 9673860
Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment, the method includes inserting a plurality of crosstalk probing signals within the wired multi-carrier communication system for probing the crosstalk from respective ones of the plurality of disturber lines into the victim line, carrying out crosstalk measurements over the victim line, and estimating the crosstalk coefficients from the crosstalk measurements. The method further includes organizing the plurality of disturber lines into subsets of disturber lines, and individually assigning disjoint groups of carriers to the respective subsets of disturber lines. The insertion of the plurality of crosstalk probing signals is confined within the respectively assigned groups of carriers. The subsets of disturber lines and/or the groups of carriers used for a second or subsequent iteration are tailored based on crosstalk characteristics observed for the respective disturber lines during a pervious iteration.

  • Patent number: 8824265
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for configuring communication parameters for communication through a first multi-carrier data communication path (DPx) established over a first subscriber line (Lx), and comprising the steps of: detecting a request (init_req, join_req(y)) whereby a second multi-carrier data communication path (DPy) is to be initialized over a second subscriber line (Ly), A method according to the invention further comprises the steps of: postponing initialization of the second data communication path, acquiring crosstalk characteristics (XT_char_xy(k)) from the second subscriber line towards the first subscriber line, deriving from the crosstalk characteristics a parameter value (VN_x(k)) characterizing a virtual noise model used for communication over the first data communication path, and applying the parameter value for further communication over the first data communication path, and resuming initialization of the second data communication path.

  • Publication number: 20140044247
Abstract: A network includes an access link and a local area link. The access link and the local area link are interferingly coupled. A method for performing spectrum management in view of a constraint in the network includes quantifying interference between the access link and the local area link, determining a first spectral configuration for a first transmitter operating over the access link, and determining a second spectral configuration for a second transmitter operating over the local area link. The determining of the first spectral configuration and the determining of the second spectral configuration are performed such that the respective achievable channel capacities of the access link and the local area link meet the constraint.

  • Patent number: 7830978
Abstract: A method involves performing a plurality of acts. The acts include transmitting a first signal stream to a first channel of a multi-channel communications medium while transmitting a second signal stream to a different second channel of the medium. The second signal stream is substantially temporally correlated to the first signal stream. The method includes receiving an SINR measured at a receiver configured to receive signals from the first channel. The SINR is measured while the receiver received the first signal stream. The method includes determining a channel matrix element between the first and second channels or a ratio of said channel matrix element to a diagonal element of the channel matrix. The act of determining is based on the received SINR.

  • Publication number: 20090092036
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for estimating a first parameter (|H12(f)|, arg(H12(f))) that characterizes a first crosstalk channel (XCHDS12) from a first transmission medium (12b) towards a second transmission medium (12a) in a first direction of communication (DS). A method according to the invention further comprises the steps of: estimating a second alike parameter (|G21(f)|, arg(G21(f))) that similarly characterizes a second crosstalk channel (XCHUS21) from the second transmission medium towards the first transmission medium in a second opposite direction of communication (US) and at a first frequency index (f1), thereby yielding a first parameter value (|G21(f1)|, arg(G21(f1))), estimating the second parameter at a second distinct frequency index (f2), thereby yielding a second parameter value (|G21(f2)|, arg(G21(f2))), deriving a value (|H12(f3)|, arg(H12(f3))) for the first parameter at a third distinct frequency index (f3) from the first parameter value and the second parameter value.
