Abstract: A database interface system and method are disclosed in which database interface screens and input parameters are configured or automatically generated using data stored in a structured database. The database system uses a modular structure comprising four layers: a generic user interface (UI) layer, a generic database interface (DI) layer, an application object (AO) layer and a database layer. Screen data (SD) is stored in the database. This system provides advantages of an architecture easy to adapt to different operating systems and different types of applications. User screens are easy to create, with a consistent look-and-feel and they can be displayed dynamically and be re-configured on the fly.
