A histogram of the composite image is generated, and is displayed on the display screen. A user presses a dynamic range change button when he or she considers that the dynamic range of the composite image must be changed by seeing the histogram and the composite image. The dynamic range is changed, to obtain a composite image by the synthesis at the ratio determined by the changed dynamic range. It can be judged by the histogram whether or not the dynamic range must be changed.
